As far as acting ability, looks, and overall awesomeness, I vote for Natalie Portman.

As far as Star Wars legacy is concerned, however, I'd have to give the edge to Carrier Fisher. Nobody will ever replace her impact in that original trilogy. I encourage everyone to watch Star Wars: A New Hope again, and go back to that mindset during the movie's initial release. It's easy to forget how attractive Leia was in that movie, with the tightness of her dress during the trash compactor scene, her appearance in the final shots, and so on. More importantly, her character was so spunky and loveable. Natalie Portman's Star Wars character did not hold a candle to that.

I agree, I first saw her in Leon/The Professional.
As an actress there is no comparison between her and Carrie.

Voted for Carrie Fisher: 10 years old in 1977 and she was a blast. Natalie, at least with her acting in Star Wars, was just as incredibly wooden as Hayden Christensen, and from a looks perspective, a little child. I'd take dangerous, ballsy Carrie Fisher's Leia any day.
