I have already downloaded it twice and burned two discs, and they don't work. I get an 'unsupport' error on the player, which is only supposed to happen when the firmware on the player is identical to the version you are trying to update to, which leads me to believe they have the wrong file up, as the filename is the same as the Version 1.4 firmware filename was.

Same here - I suspect that Panny updated the website but did not load the new file.

Okay just got off the phone with Panasonic. The 2.0 update with the advanced codecs is only for the Asian (Oceana) market.

It hasn't been released for the U.S. market yet. According to the customer service rep he said they try it in the Asian (mainly Japan) market 1st to make sure there are no problems & then they will release it in the US market.

He said to keep checking www.panasonic.com & choose support to see when it is available for download.

He also didn't know if the advanced codecs would be available thru the analogs as well as the HDMI connection but said he would be able to find out when it is released in the US market. He also confirmed it is for Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD not DTS-HD MA.

Nice work.

It would make absolutely no sense to me if the decoded signal were not available through the analogue outs - what would be the point? Of course, it would be foolish to underestimate the stupidity of these companies.

I think by now, this is old news.
