Would love to have something with a 168" diagonal, but I don't see anything sold above 135". I'm not opposed to building something myself, but I would like to follow a guide if possible. I know I would probably need metal for the framing as wood is highly likely to bow at those lengths.
Trying to keep it under $400. |

Not sure if you checked out visualapex recently, but for a cheap projection screen I remember that elite offers in their Sable 235 series ( 2.35:1 screens, knowing you
![]() http://www.visualapex.com/Projector-...=HT&Category=2 I wish I could give more feedback on making a screen since I haven't built a screen (despite that I made an A-lens), so I wouldn't be the first person to ask. Metal frames are probably a good choice over wood for a start. Just a thought, you could paint on a wall and create a frame, assuming the landlord would be ok, although it still requires you to make the paint even if you want it to look consistent. Someone here could put some more detail on DIY screens, but hope it helps otherwise. |

Not bad prices for those screen sizes plus $100 for shipping
176" Diagonal is 14 feet 8 inches wide & 5 feet 8 inches high Your just $298 short, save up wait & prepare your area. Being just under $300 short could be a blessing. Going this wide there is alot to prepare for. Another decision you'll have to make for the screen is going CineWhite (1.1 Gain White) or CineGray (1.0 Gain Gray) There's other screen manufacture choices as well. Welcome to the 14 feet wide & above club ![]() |

Thanks guys. Should I expect the screen material at Visual Apex to be of higher quality than what my current screen is made of, which I purchased at http://www.carlofet.com/projector-sc...materials.html (blackout cloth)?

I use a Harkness screen in my screening room. Mine is roughly 10X5, silver for 3D film purposes. This is a quality screen.
Here's their link: http://www.harkness-screens.com/ |
