Dropped into Walmart today and saw some new double features from Sony (in a single case, not their "two-cases-in-a-slip" style they were doing before). The four sets were:
Groundhog Day / Stripes The Bridge on the River Kwai / The Guns of Navarone Legends of the Fall / Les Miserables (1998) 2012 / Godzilla (1998) I forgot to write the prices down (d'oh), and I didn't have my camera, but I remember glancing at the first one and it was $12.something, and I expect the others are probably the same price. Hope to see more of these going forward. |

I wish they would release the original cut of Stripes on blu-ray.

Trying to think of what other ones I might like. Snatch / Layer Cake or Snatch / Revolver comes to mind. The Quick and the Dead / Silverado. I would say Cliffhanger, but they'd probably put it with Vertical Limit. Same with Spirits Within and Advent Children, Mask and Legend of Zorro. Not sure what would go with Starman (I don't think Ghosts of Mars) or Run Lola Run. The Fall / Southland Tales?

It'll probably never happen, but a Drive/Taxi Driver double feature could work. Based on that poll thread, some would love it and others would hate it.
Another possiblity is Fincher double-pack with The Social Network, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. |

The only downside is that this would almost certainly just be the first discs. I was thinking that Warner / Paramount could've done Se7en / Zodiac / The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but then realized the same thing.

They have them at the Walmart Panorama City, Ca. $12.96 each.
I bought: The Mask of Zorro/Legend of Zorro *Note, it comes with a Ultra Violent download but for a different film. Mine ended up being A League of their Own AND The Natural. Now sure if that was in error and it should have been the 2 Zorro's. They also had these: Air Force One/In the Line of Fire Black Hawk Down/Tears of the Sun DaVinci Code/Angels & Demons A League of their Own/The Natural 2012/Godzilla (1998) Legends of the Fall/Les Miserables (1998) Groundhog Day/Stripes Battle Los Angeles/Lockout Bram Stoker's Dracula/Mary Shelley's Frankenstein Ghost Rider/Hellboy Bridge on the River Kwai/Guns of Navarone Donnie Brasco/We Own the Night Hitch/The Holiday Snatch/Layer Cake |

I was at a different Walmart but no sign of Snatch and Layer Cake, which I will buy. Will consider A League of Their Own / The Natural, but I have very little interest in The Natural.
Saw a DVD triple feature there of Air Force One, A Few Good Men, and In the Line of Fire, and thought "man, I'd buy AFGM / ItLoF in a heartbeat but it will probably be AFO / ItLoF." Figures that I was right. I'm gonna guess the Ferrell and Rogen comedies available to Sony will also end up in some sets. Last edited by tylergfoster; 06-25-2013 at 10:55 PM. |

Anyone know if these double packs redeem as HDX? I wanted to know before I opened my A League of Their Own / The Natural that I just picked up tonight....

I've never been a fan of double feature Blu-ray packages, but I'd like to own these. In both cases, the movies make sense belonging in the same package, and I can understand the logic. I may have to go hunting around Walmart soon.
