Hey people,
I am interested in buying this soon. Does anyone out there have anything bad to say about it? also, I have heard rumors that there is trouble with this passing the HD signal from Coax. Has anyone had problems with this? Also, what is the correct way to hook it up for video? Wall to Conditioner to Digital Cable Box? |

I have an older Panamax, model in my sig. I have had not one single issue with this, as it has been terrific. I would suggest that you hook everything from the source into the box, so, Wall to Conditioner, and out to Cable Box. When I had the cable box, and this hook up, I had no issues. Honestly though, I have never run my system without everything plugged into the conditioner, so, I cannot compare before and after. Hope that helps Mark |

If you run the cable from the wall to the condtioner, and then to the cable box, it shouldn't be an issue. I assume your cable box is connected to the TV via HDMI or Component. The box does the HD. When I had my cables plugged in, I had no issues.
I have satellite now, and the installer bypassed the conditioner, and I have been too lazy to pull the unit out and rewire. |

I have the same model and also got it from buy.com. I have not seen a single issue running any cable through the machine. I have not seen any improvements to audio or video as some may state but in the end I feel a lot safer having that baby protect my goodies.

With our local Cox connection, I have had several instances of weak signal after going through Panamax and Monster Power Centers. if you hook it up and have no issues than good for you, but it got to the point that during home theater installations, I just bypassed the coaxial connection to the power center.

4 years ago when I first had my HD DishNetwork box installed the installer told me to never run the coax through ANY power conitioner. I forgot WHY he said that, but I never have. I guess I don't know what is negetive or positive of doing it either way??? I myself am curious.

If your cable signal is marginal and if run through a power conditioner, the signal could get attenuated to a level that you could get picture quality issues. This depends on the specs of your cable provider. If the cable provider recommends not to run through a conditioner it is better not to do that. In the other hand running the cable through a conditioner would increase protection and this is a good thing for your total system. So if the picture is in good quality you may choose to run it through a conditioner. Perhaps the best is to test it yourself with and without a conditioner. The outcome could be different in different locations for the same provider.

I just picked up a panamax 5300m and need to know which outlets on the panamax to plug my devices into. I have 2 emotiva amps, denon avr, blu ray player, cable box, apple tv and amazon fire tv.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! ![]() |

Does your Denon AVR have a trigger output? Are you using that now to power on the Emotiva amps? Given your device list, most of those (cable box, Fire, ATV) should be left on all the time so you don't have to wait for them to boot up. If you've got a trigger, put all of those device in the "always on" outlets, along with the AVR. The Blu-ray player can go in the switched outlet. Jeff |

Doesn't matter as long as you're happy with the sequencing as-is. Most of your non-amp devices should be "always on" anyway, so you're probably better off using the AVR trigger for the amps, and leaving the Panamax "on" so you have the use of all the switched outlets (which will be always be left on, but does give you an easy hard reboot switch!).

It has 5 banks, each bank has its own filtering circuitry.
Each bank have two electrical outlets in parallel. Bank 1-4 have inductors and capacitors for a notch filter whereas bank 5 is only capacitors. Bank 5 should be used for current hungry power amps, av receivers, powered subwoofers. Since each bank is separately fiktered, noise contamination between them is much less but between the two plugs on the same bank, noise contamination is high. Anything that has a switching power supply, keep it away from power amps. You can plug electronics with good power sections into same banks. |
