Dreamworks Turbo 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region Locked]

Turbo 3D Blu-ray

Dreamworks, known for awesome 3D in movies such as Madagascar 3D among a growing number of others, is releasing another great looking 3D movie called, Turbo, being released in 2D and 3D July 17, 2013.

The 3D in the theatrical trailer looks great, along the lines of The Croods, which has strong 3D.

This movie is about a Snail that is determined to win a race against full sized Indy Race cars (similar to Formula 1). He has a human trainer, as seen on the TV preview/TVspot.

Directed by David Soren
Produced by Lisa Stewart
Written by David Soren
Robert Siegel
Darren Lemke

Starring
Ryan Reynolds
Paul Giamatti
Michael Peña
Snoop Dogg
Maya Rudolph
Michelle Rodriguez
Samuel L. Jackson

Agreed. It'd be nice if we'd get a new 3D trailer in theaters before it's release, similar to the TV trailers that show the humans and more of the racing.

I recommend it!! I watched the early bird show today. I enjoyed it, I laughed a lot & so will you if you understand car enthusiast humor. It had a good message & 3D was good. The kids won't get most of it but my wife & I did which I think we were the only ones laughing out loud.. maybe out of 20 people in the theater. Also, a movie that takes place in my state & home town is always a plus (most of the movie at least)!

Thanks 3DFreak, for the feedback. Glad to hear it was comical with good 3D.

After checking out the Croods and the prior Rise of the Guardians and enjoying both movies and especially the 3D, Turbo, also from Dreamworks, is another potential hit for 3D.
Also a fan of Formula 1, Indy Car racing, and snails are interesting, so it's a unique combination for a racing movie. Will hopefully check it out this week before RIPD 3D this Friday, and Wolverine 3D next week.

34.99$ will likely drop to 24.99$ on release week. Turbo looks like a fun movie with strong 3D.

Look forward to it. I want to like this flick...but the whole snail thing just does not do anything for me. Hopefully the 3D and your impressions of it...as well as the movie itself..may help change my mind.

I see what you're saying about the whole snail thing. I think if they rendered them to have more realistic textures, it'd look a lot cooler.

The good news is, just saw the movie and the 3D was mostly strong from start to end. There are some medium 3D shots here and there, but nothing weak. Is it as strong as Madagascar 3's 3D or The Croods? It looked like it, as the glasses off double image separation was far apart quite a bit, a sign of stronger 3D, though not as many pop outs here. So strong 3D here for the most part in Turbo.

It was a fun movie, and didn't take itself too seriously, and they played the whole lunacy of a snail entering the Indy 500 out to its full capacity well enough, resulting in some laugh out loud scenes.

I'd say the look of the snails is similar to Bug's Life; more simplistic.
The humans, particularly the Mechanic woman and the Hairdresser little old lady, resemble the Grandmother and Daughter from the Croods.

Scenery took place in the city and the highlight of the movie was the chase scene with the crows and the final Indy 500 Race, which was the main focus of this movie thankfully, which is what I paid for.

Turbo's 3D was medium to strong in most scenes.

Previews in 3D before Turbo 3D
Rio 2: Strong 3D
Walking with Dinosaurs 3D: Strong 3D (This looks Awesome)
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 3D: Great 3D
Planes 3D: Great 3D
How to Train Your Dragon 2 3D: Great 3D. (Cannot wait to see this one, looks cool)
BoxTrolls 3D: A movie about a toddler and monsters in boxes. Good 3D
Wizard of Oz 3D: Really good 3D (medium to upper medium 3D) Imax 3D Sept 2013.

If you can accept the comical idea of a nitrous oxide snail racing in the Indy 500, then it's good, yes.

The Indy Cars here are the latest models, with the cool looking tail sections.

Yeah, it was a fun movie about a snail's dream to do what few thought he could. Ryan Reynolds was good as Turbo. He's got two movies in one week, Turbo 3D and RIPD 3D.

So, guys, what are the chances of this being region free? The Croods was region free, but you never know with fox as the current distributor.

Agreed on the 3D. Really good stuff. The movie was generally entertaining IMO despite a few slower scenes, but yes, room for improvements to draw the viewer in even more. Maybe more critical decisions for the main character to make, etc.
