Hi everyone, I'm new and I'd like some help from you all. I'm planning on buying my first HDTV, but I really don't know which one to choose. I've come to the conclusion that it has to be one of these two...
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...l_26%22to42%22 http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...v_42%22to51%22 I like the 40" Bravia more because it has the ability to be hung up on the wall, but it doesn't have the SXRD technology that the 50" Grand WEGA has. Does the SXRD technology improves the video/audio quality much more than what the 40" Bravia already has? If someone could help me out with that I would really appreciate. Other thing is, I know that for viewing over-the-air programming you need two things besides the TV, a tuner and an antenna. Since both of the TVs above have the tuner already integrated, does that mean that I can use the HDMI slot that I would normally use for the tuner on something else, such as a BD player, without worrying about not having HDTV while I'm viewing the BD, or do I need the HDMI slot for something else? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me. |

I'm not prepared to tell you which one you should buy, but according to the specifications one is 1080p the other is 720p but as the screen sizes are different this may not be as noticable. Be aware that the rear projection unit will need lamp replacement - the same as projectors as that is what it is (just the screen and projector are in the same box).
The big demand to start with for HDMI will be BD (or HD-DVD, but I would suggest that could be an expensive mistake). There will be numerous other devices such as media centres, Cable set top box's - etc There are Receivers with HDMI switching starting to appear, so this may not be an issue if you planning on buying a new reciever sometime. You will need to sure that the HDMI on the rear projection unit can handle 1080p. There is a note on the the HDMI, but no table to refer to the note. Presumably it will be in the manual. This is not infering anything on Sony as they are a good company - however sometimes release products before all the standards are set (they are not the only ones) e.g. the Blu Recorders that were released in Japan a few years ago. Until things settle down it's really buyer beware - rule of thumb if it's too good to be true - well it's most probably not what you think you are getting. |

How far things have come so quickly. A year ago we didn't know if 1080p would be acepted by TVs
