i always thought abbott & costello were a couple of hacks compared to the 3 stooges. hopefully since sony owns the rights they'll release their shorts(no pun intended).

You, friend, don't know Burlesque. (And yeah, I know it's necro-bumped, but it needs to be said.)
The Stooges came out of vaudeville and B-Q, as evidenced by their immortalizing of the Niagara Falls Routine in 'Gents Without Cents"...
But Bud & Lou first met at Minsky's, and were trained in the banana-discipline of knowing all the classics, like the Nut House Sketch or the Craps Lesson. Apart from Bert Lahr or Phil Silvers, A&C movies are probably the only the true archiving of the genuine article--If you ever want to know what true Burlesque looked like, check out Lou's dream-sequence in "Ride 'Em Cowboy", or the Susquehanna Hat Company sketch in "In Society":

(As for their own routines, if all you know is "Who's on first?", watch Lou try to tell his joke about Jonah and the Whale, in "One Night in the Tropics":

I wish Sony would get around to releasing these classic films to Blu-ray ... they really deserve to be released to Blu-ray.

Would be great if they were, not sure I would be buying them however. I have the four DVD sets from Universal and while I enjoy the movies (they still make me laugh even after all these years) I probably would just stick with those DVD set.

These movies are so old. I doubt they would benefit on Blu-ray. Our DVD copies are as good as they get in terms of picture and sound quality.

It's a shame a collection hasn't been put out yet. While Meet Frankenstein is my favorite film of theirs and has been released on blu, they have so many other good ones. Universal should at least put together an A&C monster collection similar to their actual classic monster set, that would be an instanta-buy from me.

I would like to see more A&C on Blu-ray. They played these movies a lot on T.V. in the early 80s, and I really enjoyed them. My favorites are A&C Goes To Mars, Boris Karloff the Killer, and The Invisible Man.
