This looks great, I need to get this...Does BBY keep ample stock of these titles so I can show up next week and pick this up? Would acquiring via an express lane order from BBY be the best way to go on this?

BBY has this for $22.99 as of this typing, I preordered this from their website and I'm having it shipped to my home so I wont have to go up there on release day...your local BBY should have the express lane ordering program setup in its store...you should try again and either these are done at the customer service/geek squad desk OR it's done at the in-store pickup window...this policy varies by store...

any review of this yet?

For the record my best buy had ONE copy and didn't even list the sale price.

on another note most of the new release titles were "on sale" for 24.99....what a joke.

I got the last one at my local BB. Apparently they're selling like "hot cakes" per the rep that checked me out. Can't wait to check it out when I get home from work.

I'm on the first match..so far they cleaned the footage up real well, this makes me feel like a kid again, then again I'm not sure if I was around when the first match came out. lmao

Set is great, almost finished the first disc.

Only downside is no Jesse Ventura commentary for 92 and 93 matches. Its strange because on Classics on Demand they had a War Games theme couple years ago and they aired those two matches with his commentary intact.

haven't got that far yet. However listening to the first two matches I will have to say Tony Schivani sounds A LOT like Joey Styles. Except Joey Styles is way cooler, I wonder if Tony was an influence.

I always liked Tony Schiavani... But he was one of the announcers I grew up on (along with Solie and Ross), I primarily watched the Nwa shows in the 80's as the WWF from that time was much more cartoony for my tastes. I do remember the first couple war games matches from renting the tapes from my local video store... Brought back great memories, I winced in the first match when Dillon broke his collarbone on that move from the Road Warriors... I was amazed at the pop these matches were getting too, the crowds were really into them

I have one more match to watch on the first disc, but I really dislike watching OLD Wrestlnig matches most of the time because everything looks so dated, but I've been able to sit through with anticipation in every match so far.

These are action packed and you can tell that everyone is on the top of their game in trying to make this thing work. It's very exciting stuff.

JJ's spear on the cage was awful. I liked watching the head scrapes across the cage. It just LOOKS awesome even though they blade shortly before, you still can't tell.

The "Tower Of Doom match" is worth the 23$ all on it's own. Disc one is a big ol' bag of awesome. I can't wait to check out disc 2 tonight.

The transfers apart from the first match look outstanding considering the source materials. Here's to hoping we get more sets like this in the future.

seriously? Man I was looking forward to those.

Is it just video quality or is it match quality?

Those two ECW pay per views were HUGE.

Broadcasting rights vs Home Video rights, similar situation that studios deal with using older tv series and needle drop music. WWE can use his likeness/comments over any broadcast medium, it's home video where it's an issue.

Ventura's issue with WWF/WWE over his commentaries were always about home video. I guess when he first started doing announcing on WWF his contract was for TV, then they started using him for PPV. When those PPV's started showing up on home video Ventura wanted more money. He eventually left the WWF over this and sued, if I remember correctly he did receive a settlement. But going forward from that lawsuit, I'm not sure what the agreement was, but WWE seems to try it's hardest to edit him out.

I'm not really sure why Ventura's WCW commentaries apply since I assume he signed an original contract for home video use back in 1992 with Turner.
(almost all his WCW PPV appearences were released on VHS by THE/WCW, and this was after his spat with WWF, so I'm sure he had a Home Video clause in his WCW contract.) Perhaps WWE is just playing it safe.
