You're seriously passing on the movie because the slipcover has a border on it you don't like? Man, you guys are nitpicky to the extreme around here.

Just throw the slip away if it bothers you that much. The movie itself comes in a regular bluray case. Jeez...

And it IS confirmed, via the Liar Liar thread, that these are just slips. The actual covers are border-free.

so close yet so far!! The suspense of waiting for a review on this release is killing me! I really hope this is the definitive copy that this classic movie deserves!

I notice this and Liar Liar will have UV codes. I'm not used to seeing codes with old catalog titles. Do you think the studios will be giving us HD codes for "budget" titles or just SD versions?

This is a Universal release, so it's possible. However, I received 6 of their recent comic book-style steelbooks and 3 of them included HD digital copies and 3 of them did not, with no rhyme or reason -- e.g., Shaun of the Dead was HD; Hot Fuzz was not. This was for iTunes, so I'm not sure about UV.

I'm hoping someone with both the HD DVD and the new Blu can compare them and post their opinion! So far, there have been very few releases that I own on HD DVD that I've felt the need to "upgrade" to Blu-ray. Since 'The Jerk' is a favorite movie of mine, I'm hoping there's GOOD REASON to upgrade.

Look what's on the shelf at Costco in La Mesa, CA!

I already own both in HD DVD so I'll wait to read reports on image quality!

As stated previously in this thread, they come in normal cases without the decade border found on the slipcover.

I pulled the keepcases out of the slipcovers and, indeed, the paper inserts in the keep cases do NOT have the ugly decade art.

So, if you want to pitch the slipcovers in the trash, you'll be all set with the existing keepcases.

I called my local Costco - asked if they had it - they said that they just got it today - went there searched - asked the guys in the loading dock - I had it in my hands at the checkout and I was denied!! Would not scan and the manager looked up the street date of 7/9 and would not sell it to me! Ugh!!!

What do you mean by codes? Many, if not all, of the Universal 100 Blu-rays had digital copies. Smokey and the Bandit, The Sting, and Scarface being some of the old catalog examples that immediately come to mind.

Be cautious if someone posts early Blus on Costco's shelves and didn't purchase them. I tried buying London 2012 early to no avail. Other posters had similar problems with the last Resident Evil and Premium Rush.

UV codes...didn't I state that? And it's my understanding that most, if not all, of the Universal 100's redeemed in SD.

I have no interest in a SD copy of anything, so I'm curious if these new "best of" releases will come with UV codes that redeem in HDX.
