Wii for a 40gb PS3....Good Trade?

hey guys, i'm in quite the dilemma. I have myself a Wii already and play it on occasion, but while I was at wal-mart the other day, they had another Wii in stock, so I picked it up for my friend at work.

Well, he doesnt have the money to pay for it and cant justify the expense. So I put it up on craigslist and I now have the choice of either just returning it back to walmart to get my money back .... or .... someone is offering me a brand new unopened 40Gb PS3 with Spiderman 3 bundle as a trade for the Wii.

Should I .....

A) Return the Wii and give someone else who really wants a Wii the opportunity to get one for retail price of 250.00$

or...

B) Take slight advantage of the situation and trade it for a 400$ unopened PS3?


I have a feeling I already know what the majority of your answers will be, but figure I'd see what anyone has to say.

I think I have a relatively short timeline for how long this offer has on the table, so any and all quick responses would be MORE than GREATLY appreciated

...you can always sell the PS3 and make some money. Or keep it, its a great wi-fi bluray player.

But double check the PS3 works first. (I have many a friends who repackage stuff to look new )

oh crud. i guess i never thought about that. do you know if there is a security seal on the outer box or anything? I figure since its craigslist, we'd be meeting out in a somewhat public area or so. so it'd be a little tough to try it out before hand at a starbucks or something. haha

I'd say sell the Wii on ebay and take the money and buy some blu-rays or PS3 games

I would trade, but I would be leary of trading on craigslist as you dont know the condition of it. Costco had Wii bundles in on Wednesday, I picked up a few while I was there

do you need the 250? Maybe you could give it to a niece or nephew that would greatly appreciate it.

Or you could donate it to a local children's hospital or charity.

Or you could ebay it and try to make back a bit more than the 250.

I'd return it.... you may only get $280 or so (after taxes) rather than a PS3 which you may be able to sell for a $100 gain, but you're buying insurance for $100 to keep from getting scammed by some guy on Craigslist. I just wouldn't trust it.... that's all I'm saying.

Why would he have a BRAND NEW PS3 that he never opened? If he wanted a Wii, wouldn't he buy one from the countless people selling them for $400 ?

I actually did that exact same thing. My boyfriend bought me a Wii and then graciously "allowed" me (meaning, I didn't have to feel guilty for trading a gift ) to put it on Craigslist... anyway, I was able to trade someone for a sealed 40GB PS3... it's not so bad, because I wanted a PS3 and they had a 4 year old boy who wanted a Wii (not a PS3, as they had received it as a gift themselves)... so it worked out for everyone! =)...

We both stood and opened them right there on the hood of the car to make sure all was well, and it was. In the end, not everyone is out to scam someone, just make sure you check it before you leave, and as always, meet in a safe place during the day.
