Awesome! Nice choice Shout...I'm a little sentimental about this one, my mother took me to see this at the theater when I was 11. I remember it being cool I was going to a non-kids flick.lol

The UK all region Blu-ray (which is very good) is 135 minutes with subtitles. There is an extended version 10 minutes longer with a very different opening and some small differences later that was released on DVD also with subtitles and also very good for SD. One wonders which one Shout will offer. Ideally they should offer both!

The UK ITV release doesn't have the extended version, so it would be fantastic if Shout could offer that.

I wonder if this means Boys from Brazil and Capricorn One might be released by Shout next year?

Default Boys from Brazil

This is an ABC release and a good one so no need to wait for an American release

I have that, and it is indeed an excellent release. But the region B release of Capricorn One leaves a lot to be desired IMO.

I already own the Region free ITV release, but its always good to see these favorites coming to Blu-ray. Shout is also releasing one of my all-time favorite movies, the Lee Marvin-Roger Moore 1976 actioner "Shout at the Devil" so kudos to them -- they are fast becoming my favorite BD distributor.

The "Collector's Edition" aspect has me intrigued. I wonder if they dug up some features or have created some new.

Isn't the U.K. disc DD 2.0? I think the U.S. disc will be worth buying if it has the same PQ or better and contains lossless audio.

It seems this will be a copy of the UK Blu-ray (only 131 m listed on amazon) and the usual useless DVD copy. As the original did not come with lossless sound I doubt we will get it here. Bl-ray.com states it will be 145 m but I regard this with caution. I have the UK 135 m Blu and the UK DVD that also came with the extended 10 minutes and both are good as far as they go. There is no suggestion at this stage this offering will be either the extended version or both so we will have to wait until a lot more certain data is available. Getting the single UK multi region Blu may still be the best deal at the end of the day!

I love the cover apart from the fact that Michael Caine looks a bit like Eddie Constantine!

It looks like it does.

The Eagle Has Landed features a lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 mix that boasts excellent fidelity, delivering both dialogue and Lalo Schifrin's exciting (if occasionally Mission: Impossible- esque sounding) score with precision and nuance. The last 45 minutes or so of the film, once the battles really begin breaking out, offers some substantial low end and extremely wide dynamic range.
Thanks for the review.

I will probably double dip on this as I own the UK BD version too.

Wow! Does this takes place in the Matrix world? I really doubt that overall greenish hue was intentional.

I have taken the liberty of tinkering a bit with it, just for the sake of it:

All I did was to lower down the green push within the green RGB channel and, as you can see, that also gives you a much better balanced contrast that brings with it a noticeable detail gain.

Of course, I have no way to tell what was the intended original palette, or how close my quick-fixed images are to it (I was just making an assumption with no real reference of how it should look), but again, that strong green push doesn't look right to me.

It is a real shame the US release does not give us the extended version with the very different opening. This extended version is available on a pretty good UK DVD with subtitles. As it is fans need the UK DVD and this American Blu (which has several extras and should be a better deal than the bare bones UK Blu). Still room for an ultimate treble dip! How about giving us the Fourth Protocol on Blu!

No, it's not a Colletor's Edition, and the slipsleeve does have interior art, but not really reversable IMO.
