To be fair, DTV has become a pretty big business. It's not like it used to be. And not everything can get a theatrical release anyway. Personally, I think it's a safe way to test the waters for a Chucky revival after all these years. And it's certainly preferable to a Platinum Dunes style remake....

IMDB lists the budget at 8 million, which is more than enough to make a solid Child's Play movie, especially since it's going DTV. Plus, Brad Dourif and Don Mancini are involved, and they've both been involved with all of the previous ones. I think this could be a great way to bring Chucky back, and at least it doesn't look like it's a sequel made just to keep the rights, like the last Hellraiser and Children of the Corn.

Then again, other than the first and Bride of Chucky, all the other Chucky movies are pretty bad. So this has a 50/50 chance. |

Last I heard this film is a test to see if there is a market to invest the kind of money that would be required for the budget to a theatrical remake of the original. I read that on upcominghorrormovies.com probably well over a year ago at this point.

For all those people who think the movie can take place between 3 and 4... you are wrong. You are forgetting the chronology of the series.
Fist movie - 1988. Second Movie - 1990 Third Movie - 1997 Fourth Movie - 1998 Remember that there is a seven year gap story wise between two and three. That's why Andy is a teenager in the the third movie. Also in 4 Tiffany said that it took her 10 years to track down the doll. Which means that she obtained it about a year after he got chopped into pieces. My biggest concern is how they will bring Chucky back. Don Mancini has always been really good about this (except with seed). If this does take place after 3 and ignores Bride then they have to explain how he came back. My other concern is that I love Bride so much that I'd hate to have it in a separate continuity. But, admittedly, after seed it may be impossible to maintain that portion of the story. Anyway... just some of my thoughts. |

![]() This is the first time I've ever heard someone say they actually liked Seed of Chucky ![]() honestly not trolling. I even have it on blu. maybe its just cuz Waters is in it. Or it could be i just find the entire chucky concept stupid. not to knock anyone for liking it. But the more serious takes like 1 and 2 just seemed goofy to me. Whereas Seed was so over the top silly it worked (i do think of it as a comedy though) Oddly i love Killer dolls.. like pupper master, Dolls etc.. so not sure why i always thought chucky was silly. |
