We have our first major retailer stating XBOne has sold out. Best Buy today has officially sold out of Launch day Xbox One systems, this of course follows the news that Amazon and Gamestop have sold out of Launch day PS4 systems.

It makes you wonder if the allocations are different (proportionally) to each retailer. There are widespread reports that GameStop got a lot more PS4 allocations than Xbox One, so it begs the question of how many pre-orders Amazon/Best Buy/Wal-Mart, etc. have gotten.
I'm sure most of the retailers will be sold out of pre-order allocation for both consoles within the next few months, and that's when the real fireworks will begin. ![]() |

I'd imagine MS and Sony have sales data about where they tend to sell in good numbers and will allocate more to those areas? No point sending a thousand consoles to a location where you only tend to sell 100 each year!

If rumblings are to be believed, M$ actually has big production issues meaning that Xbones won't even touch the amount of PS4s being made available and the fact that they're selling out should make it even more disturbing for M$.
The only 'positive' is in the deceptive 'sold out' which is a fleeting PR moment imo once sales data for the consoles goes public. I'm happy to see M$ pull a U-turn because it opened the way for me to become an eventual owner like I will be in some months post next gen release, but their console is severely underpowered at this point and is priced higher whilst most likely going to have inferior 3rd party multiplatforms and overall less exciting exclusives in total number. So, I wouldn't rush out in the 'panic' to buy an Xbone, but the PS4 risk of not having it at launch and shortly after leading up to Christmas is very high and real. |

They rely more on the retailers themselves for that data.

The launch day edition is the only one that guarantees you a launch day console so it would not be misleading same with the PS4, those bundles are not launch day guarantees.

Since you seem to have difficulty getting this, I'll give you a simpler example. Suppose there's a movie screening that has a reserved seating level. Suppose that reserved seating level sells out, but other tickets are still available, would it make sense to write "This Screening is Sold Out"? Last edited by MifuneFan; 07-10-2013 at 06:48 PM. |

Just Wow...The argument isn't whether you get it on launch or not. Amazon isn't sold out of XBones, since they're sitll selling the Standard edition. Therefore any title saying Xbone is sold out at Amazon is misleading. Best Buy isn't currently selling the Standard, so technically only the Launch day ediiton is sold out. I'm sure, just like Amazon, they will list a Standard edition too.
A less misleading title would be: XBone Day One Edition is sold out at Best Buy and Amazon Last edited by MifuneFan; 07-10-2013 at 06:39 PM. |

Yes attack my primary language because you fail to grasp simple things like sku numbers and product descriptions while trying to argue semantics about a console that most likely neither of us will ever purchase. The standard editions state they may be in stock on launch day, but you are not guaranteed a console on launch date, hence that makes them sold out. I understand the entire standing room only argument you are attempting to make based on cancellations and such but it will still not be a guarantee unless you have said launch day editions.

This is the last point I'll make Is the Xbone still available to purchase at Amazon? Yes Is the Xbone sold out at Amazon? No You can make the claim that it's sold out at BB, simply because they don't have the Standard edition listed online, but your revised title is certainly misleading when you lump Amazon into it Last edited by MifuneFan; 07-10-2013 at 06:48 PM. |

Amazon games had a Facebook post a few hours ago stating that both their PS4 and Xbox One launch day editions, bundles included, are now sold out for good.
I am glad I never cancelled my preorder for the One when all of the DRM stuff was going on. Now there is a great chance that I will be able to sell my launch day edition of the Xbox1 at a nice inflated price. ![]() |
