The Wrap reports that Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, and Emily Blunt are all being considered for the female lead, so hopefully we hear firm word on that front soon. Great news all around, folks!

Definitely. I could absolutely see Emily Blunt in the role, although she's about 10 years too young for it. Amy is in her late 30's.

Affleck is a good fit for Nick. He's a character you'll alternately root for and then hate on, and he's shown he can handle that kind of role(Changing Lanes comes to mind). He is a little older than the Nick in the book, but I don't think it's too hard to de-age Affleck by about 5 years.

All that being said, fix the damn ending. Good Lord, I can't recall the last time I read something that started out so great and ended with such a whimper.

David Fincher!!! And what a perfect book for him to adapt. I love the Ben Affleck choice. He should fit the character really well. There are so many twists in this book, I can't wait to see it on the screen. I agree that Emily Blunt is the best choice of those three actresses, but Charlize or Natalie would work beautifully also.

And as for the ending, when I read it, I was FURIOUS. But in the weeks and months that followed, I found it worked and suited the story and its characters' personalities well. Felt believable. In other words, I highly recommend the book.

Zodiac is one bloated film and I did not care for it. I am on board with you with everything else even though I have not seen TGWTDT, I prefer the Swedish version.

I hope he collaborates with Reznor again. I love it when they team up.
Yes! Need Trent Reznor on board as well.

How can you prefer something over something else if you haven't seen both films?

I agree!

Although the last five minutes of
[Show spoiler]The Game are so horrible, they kind of ruin the otherwise great movie. I was quite engaged throughout, and could think of a score of good ways the film could of ended, but the way it did was not even on my radar, and it SUCKED and kind of killed it.

I get that....
[Show spoiler]But it worked for me, but I understand if you can't go along with it how it could be a big problem

I was wondering the same thing. I know I prefer the Fincher version, because I have seen both.

I loved the book and consequently I read her first two. Her second, Dark Places is also great. Gillian Flynn has a wonderfully evil mind for such books.

Can't wait for a Fincher film and if it were up to me, Charlize Theron is perfect for Amy. That was my thought while reading the book. Right age, right talent to play the part.

Don't forget this one:

It's over twenty years old and still ranks in my top five of music videos.

Also, the dude that said Zodiac sucks is out to lunch.

Pretty simple as far as I am concerned. I prefer the memory of the original and do not want an altered version or vision to dilute that memory. I am choosing to remember only the nuances of how this was directed, from the locales chosen in Europe to the Swedish language being spoken to the very quirky and very unknown freshness of Noomi Rapace. I feel exactly the same in regards to Let The Right One In and that I thought; was average but it was uniquely original. I am fairly certain I won't watch Oldboy remake as well.

you really can't watch two movies and have the one you prefer not be "diluted"? This is bizarre to me.

To each their own. I could watch 50 versions of a movie I loved, it would never diminish the brilliance of the one I preferred most.
