Hey guys. I got a Steelbook a few days ago and when I opened it, I noticed there was a sticker on the UPC. I took it off, but there was quite a bit of sticker residue left.
I was curious if goo gone is safe to use on a Steelbook or not and if there are other, better ways to remove sticker residue from a Steelbook. I haven't really used goo gone before. ![]() Thanks! |

I always dab the sticky side of what I just pulled off (Sticker, blob of glue, those round tape things that hold on cards) over the residue and it takes it away. Almost have never had to use any type of cleaner.

I used a smidgeon of Goo Gone on my Futureshop exclusive Looper steelbook a couple of days ago because it had mysterious sticky residue on the back and front in various spots. Nearly gave the seller on eBay a negative feedback because it was NOT in perfect condition as stated. But I remedied it myself.

It looks shiny and the residue is gone. Didn't harm it at all, from what I can tell.
I did not use much Goo Gone, either. A mere drop on a paper towel and let it soak that little area of the paper towel. Then I gently touched it to the steel and rubbed it. I then dried it off with a microfiber cloth because it was a little oily after I wiped it. Last edited by DarkEco910; 07-15-2013 at 07:38 PM. |

goo gone works just fine and as stated you just need a very small amount... you can rub it on as much as needed until the residue is gone, I have never had a problem with it damaging the finish... I use a paper towel on matte steels and a cloth tshirt or towel on glossy steels to avoid scratches

you can get goo gone at most stores, walmart, etc... it should be on the aisle with household cleaners... its in a clear spray bottle with orange liquid... it works for slips but I would not apply it directly to the slip... put a drop or 2 on a paper towel and let it absorb the goo gone first... you just don't want to get the slip too wet or it can swell
