Default Die Hard Collection...worth it?

I hope that this is the section to ask this. Are the Die Hard movies worth owning in HD if I'm a fan of the movies? Or, perhaps, is only the last one worth getting?

Thanks.

Whoa.... back up the train..... So, first off..... I rented the whole deal from netflix, and gotta say.... for the original three, the AQ/PQ is worth the upgrade from standard. That being said, I thought the newest movie looked good, sounded good, but the story/movie itself was pretty lame. The entire collection can be had for pretty cheap ($50) if you look around, so I'd say get the whole thing, but DO NOT just buy the new one..... it's not a very good movie compared to the first three (#1 and #3 being my favorite two)

Thanks Beta Man...I agree with you in that 1 and 3 are my favorites as well...I believe 3 beats 1 for me just by a nose.

Known in the industry as the "Samuel L. Jackson Bad-Mo-Fo Factor!"

I'm trying to find the first and third (and eventually second) for cheap enough that the total of the three of them isn't more than for the boxed set.

I do not want to own the 4th. I didn't like it at all and would rather not be reminded of it every time I look at my collection.

The collection is totally worth it. I enjoy all of the Die Hard's. #1 and #3 are probably my favorites. Anyway, the case is awesome. It's only slightly bigger than the normal bd case, yet it has four discs. Still my favorite packaging! Good Job Fox!

Agreed, totally worth it. The fourth is (unfortunately) the PG-13 version instead of the unrated version, other than that it is a very nice set to add to the ole BD collection.

I have the collection. I haven't seen #2 & #3 yet. I really liked #4 as well as the original. It's packed with action. I thought PQ/AQ of #4 was excellent.
So... get it!

one thing i did not like is that the "collection" had its own case instead of a sleeve with the 4 individual cases, first blu i have bought like that and i do prefer the smaller cases.

I agree... but Die Hard Collection is much cheaper now than buying each separately. That's the reason why I bought the collection ($48 shipped).

I seem to be in the minority so far of people who liked Live Free Or Die Hard. I thought it was extremely entertaining and the BD is reference quality audio and video. It's definitely a straight up action movie that doesn't really let up, but when the action's not full-throttle it's got some pretty humorous moments as well. While I prefer the unrated cut, the PG-13 cut is still very enjoyable, and for what you can get the set for it doesn't really make sense to just buy the first three, unless you can get a really good deal on them.

As far as the originals, they look great. The second one is the weakest of the three, while WAV is definitely the biggest upgrade (which wouldn't take much as the DVD release was one of the worst available). I'd say it's a wise purchase.

The set is worth the bucks , although nothing is going to make me like the second movie.
