Cool. TDK - an excellent brand, Imation - make some of the most reliable CD-R's, should be a good acquisition.

What will the name be though? TiDmaKtion maybe?

TDK becomes the largest shareholder in Imation. Nothing has changed as far as Blu-Ray is concerned.

"TDK will continue R&D and manufacturing operations for recording media products including audio, video and data storage tape, and Blu-ray optical discs. TDK will supply Imation as well as its other OEM customers."

Since Imation makes Hd-dvds, doesn't it effectively makes them format neutral now?

How about the recent rumors about their partnership with Yuh Yuan to manufacture 2Mi HD-DVD players for Walmart?

Technically, Imation doesn't make CD-Rs. The discs are produced by others in India and Taiwan.
