Default 2000AD Launches Official DREDD 3D Sequel Campaign

2000AD has launched an official campaign to bring Dredd 3D a sequel. You can sign it here, as well as like the "Make a DREDD Sequel" Facebook page. I for one am it sees the light of day.

Thanks.

I signed it. I don't have a Facebook account, but I'll see if my wife wants to give that a like.

Is there any time that an internet petition has ever worked?

You're welcome. I don't know about internet specifically, but if i recall the Kick-Ass sequel was never likely, until they saw the passionate fanbase. So who knows.

Veronica Mars probably qualifies.

Sweet! Good news guys!

I think Karl Urban is gonna burst a main vein if this doesn't happen too! Which could be good for us!

If the sequel gets green lit(which will happen) they should do it with a smaller budget.

how are the bluray/rental/streaming sales doing for the first film, cause I really don't see a lot of folk signing a petition, since it wasn't well received or viewed in the first place.

A smaller budget than the first film or just to have a small budget? The first film cost $45 million to make. I hope if they green light a sequel they get around a $100 million budget.

The movie made $35 million worldwide, not including video sales/rentals. Why would anyone invest $100 million in this?

I not saying saying it would get $100 million if it gets a green light. Just that I hope it would so they could properly do the things Garland wants to do with the Dredd franchise. I would also hope it gets a budget greater than what it got for the first one. A better ad campaign and trailers than what the did for the first one would bring a larger audience to the theater since people would know what it was about. Also, no need for 3d. It did a much better than expected in home video and rental sales from what one imagine with a film that underperformed in theaters like Dredd did.

Or the same budget, but without bothering with the pointless 3D conversion. Then you have an extra $10 Million (I guess) to put into the film itself.

I liked the Dredd movie and own it on bluray (as well as the Stallone version which I like more) but there is no way that it could have made more money even with a better ad campaign - it's not that type of film. And there was no story in Dredd for people to run to the theaters. Even with the good reviews and even if a sequel captured the perfect vision of the comic book, there is really no reason for a Dredd movie to do well.

The movie was incredibly well-received by both critics and the audience who actually did see it.

+1 Thank you for stating this. The film has a very faithful cult following that is growing and making their voice heard! Copies of this film are still moving off store shelves at a healthy pace... and it's made some who matter take notice. Will it actually get a sequel? Who knows... but it's all easily worth a try. I thought DREDD was a fantastic (proper) depiction of the bad @ss comic book! It blew away the cheesy Sylvester Stallone slap stick fest from back in the 90's. Easy.

I signed the petition and have been bugging my friends to do the same.

A sequel would do a lot better than the first in theaters, it has a lot of fans now.
Blu-Ray and DVD were hard to get a hold of because people were buying!
