Default Shrek the Musical - Pre-orders up!

Shrek the Musical Blu-ray

I have had my eye on this long awaited release for some time. Amazon are now listing it as a preorder. Digital release on September 17th with an unconfirmed date for the Blu ray release but it is expected to be the same if not shortly after.

Film comes in standard DVD format or a Bluray/DVD/UV copy combo. Here's hoping its region free so I can get this on import to the UK.

That cover art is misleading since this isn't an animated production. It's a recording of a live performance, and the actors look like this:

Yeah they should have used the newer art work.

Regardless I am still buzzing for this!

That's nothing new. Even back in VHS days they released shows like Cats.

Yeah, nothing new. I own 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Love Never Dies', and 'Rent' all on blu, and they're live stage versions. Sometimes it's great to relive what the stage production feels like.

So excited to finally be getting to see this. I've seen several scenes from it, and it looks HYSTERICAL.

Same here. I have a season pass for the Pantages theater in Hollywood CA and also catch as many as I can at other local theaters. I have seen so many and would love to revisit them. Having them on Blu-ray would be great. Would also love to see some that never make it off of Broadway as well.

I am curious about this release so I will probably pick this up when I can get it for a decent price on sale.

If you know ANYTHING about Shrek, you'll know that he is a rude and crude ogre who belches, farts, eats bugs and bathes in slime and mud, that's what ogre's do. If that offends you and you find it unfunny, then why are you even visiting a thread about Shrek?

Go find a thread about Mary Poppins, or Sound of Music and stop insulting people who find Shrek's potty humor funny. Jeesh.

I love Shrek (well, the first 2 and Puss In Boots), but the worst things about them were the toilet humor. What do you see in it that I don't?

The release date is September 17th for digital download on Amazon and streaming on Netflix!

October 15th is the official Blu ray/DVD release. Out of interest does anyone know if Dreamworks latest Blu rays have been able to play on Region B?

Fellow New Yorker here, but I on the other hand haven't seen any shows on Broadway, but that's why I too would like to see more BD releases of them. Stuff like The Lion King, Book of Mormon, and even Spiderman Turn off the Dark.

Absolutely. From a non-New Yorker who has only been to a few Broadway shows and who usually has to settle for tour shows, I'd be thriled to see more releases like this in high-def. I was actually hopeful--but thought it would never happen--that we would see "Shrek" after that clip on one of the movie discs. I'd love to see Disney in particular film theirs, and properties like "Spiderman" need to be preserved for fans before the lights are turned off for good.

As for "Mormon," I'm hoping for a Parker-and-Stone movie adaptation.

I thought the films were great, Shrek The Third wasn't as great as the other 3 though, but altogether they were enjoyable.
