Default Why do people say there are not many games out for the PS3?

I think the reason is that the PS3 uses blu ray and it will take a bit of time for game developers to get used to it. Plus the PS3 was released after the 360. The 360 used DVD ROM which is a cheaper format which is been out for years which game developers have been used to.I'm sure in a years time there will be just as much games out on the PS3 than the 360. I just hope the PS3 games can catch up to the 360's! But if blu ray loses the format war, then they won't catch up

Because they are m$ fanbois who want the ps3 to fail.

Blu-ray is the perfect choice for games as well and will make the difference in the long run against the 360.

The answer to the question, is because it's true. Saying Because they are m$ fanbois who want the ps3 to fail is not the reason, Jack Torrance, nor is it a true answer. It's a simple fact that there are not a lot of game on the PS3.

OF course this is do to the fact that, the PS3 just came out in. Every game system doesn't have alot of games when it's first realease. Look at the Wii it also doesn't have alot of games.

billymcmoy, I also believe your right, it takes time for game developers to get used to making games for a new system.

Comparatively, there aren't a lot of PS3 games released yet.

But compared to PS2 every other machine on sale now has a pretty poor selection.

MasterXeus: If I can respectfully disagree and expand on my earlier response which I admit was little too short - you may not agree with me, but might understand my point of view a little better

Within weeks of the PS3's launch, there was a lot of unreasonable hatred to the PS3 console, with the big complaint that "there's not a lot of games for it!" A lot of this did come from 360 fanbois, who claimed the 360 was superior mainly because it had more games. This was an absurd claim as the PS3 was brand new to the market.

Barely five months in, the claim of not enough games is still a more than a little unfair, and is something still brought up consistently by the anti-ps3 crowd (who make themselves more vocal and visible than the regualr gamer). Compared to the 360, at this same point in it's life cycle, the ps3 probably has more quality games (RFOM, MOTORSTORM to name but two). And starting within the next few months, through the end of the year, it seems that any drought of games in general is truly at an end. And though compared to the PS2's huge library of games, which it had years to build up, the ps3's is still miniscule, you still have the option of playing those PS2/PS1 games on the system (with 98% b/c if you bought the north America/Japanese units) -- while not "next gen", it's still a better alternative than what the 360 was offering at that point in time (the 360 which still has pretty poor b/c to the original xbox).

The hardcore gamer will never be satisfied until there are lots of new releases every week to pick from. For the casual gamer, like myself, it's more than enough and soon will be spolied for choice.

I think we have to wait to see more people start changing the numbers around. PS2 still easily leads PS3 in sales and until that changes they're not going to take all there efforts into creating games. Creating things costs money and I hope they are trying to get rid of this HD wars more and then it will be easy. I would also say it's b/c it was just released.

what did the 360 have at this time last year?...

they didn't have a game to match Resistance...that's for sure..

Jack Torrance & The Don
First off, I'm not saying Xbox 360 is better than the PS3, nor I'm I saying that Xbox 360 fans have never said PS3 doesn't have any games.

Both of you didn't read my statement very well.

To simply answer the question with "Because they are m$ fanbois who want the ps3 to fail" Isn't a good answer to question. This maybe what 360 fanboys are saying but the real reason behind the lack of games is because the PS3 just came out.

Read everything before you start saying stuff.
I said "OF course this is do to the fact that, the PS3 just came out in. Every game system doesn't have alot of games when it's first release. Look at the Wii it also doesn't have alot of games."

The same goes for the Xbox 360, when it first game out too.

I"m not comparing the PS3 to Xbox 360, Xbox 360 has more games because it's been out a whole year longer, that's a simple fact. And honest MS should have spent that year creating rock solid, killer games to compete against the PS3, but they didn’t.

I'm also not going to "Compared to the 360, at this same point in it's life cycle, the ps3 probably has more quality games" The simple reason, the PS3 came out a year later, it's a better system which can do more than the XBox 360, therefore it should have more quality games.

With any new game system that comes out, there is a lack of games for the first 6 months.

I'm not talking about a PS or PS2 games that can be played on the PS3. or how it compares to Xbox 360 B/C, PS3 b/c is by for alot better. I'm talking about PS3 games only, which there are not alot of games.

At my local best buy, I counted 30 PS3 games, not to bad, but that's not a lot of games. Out of those 30, 15 of these are some kind of sport or racing game, which I don't like. 2 other games I have on the 360 for at least 6 months before the PS3 came out. I bought Enchanted Arms for the 360, beat the game and then sold it. I currently have 1 PS3 game. That leaves 11 games, none of them I'm interested in. So yes, to me there aren't alot of games. This will change with time; I'm looking forward to future releases for the PS3. I see this happening before the end of 2007 as long as the games do not get postpone. According to Wikipedia, there are 202 games that have been released or are in development for the PS3 so, the statement that the PS3 doesn’t have any games, will go away in time.

After hearing all this hype about ROFM, I spent a week playing it at my friend’s house; I'm personally not overall impressive. It was fun playing against 30+ players online, but that's something I'm not into. To me, it felt alot like Call of Duty style games, which are ok.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, I'm a casual gamer looking for games I want to play. Right now, the PS3 doesn't have a lot to offer me. I see games coming soon that I'm looking forward to, like FFXIII. Maybe I should rephrase what I said. For me, currently there are not alot of games on the PS3 That I'm interested.

I'm not getting down on you or anything, MASTERXeus. The thing is..if you are not comparing how many games are out on the PS3 to anything, how can you say it's not a lot of games. One generally needs a reference point to be able to determine if the amount of games present isn't a lot. Example: If the PS3 was the first gaming machine ever created and they had 20 games for it, how could you say there isn't a lot of games for out for it. This would be the most games you had ever seen. Therefore, I would have to say your statement was based on a comparison with something else. Do you see what I mean?

I think that's why you got the reaction you got from them. I think it was just your wording. You all have wonderful points and I think you are all on to something with your points. I'm done. Carry on.

Ascended Saiyan, ok I see you point and your reply was no where near as you said getting down on me or anything.
I guess I am comparing the PS3 to the Xbox 360 since I own both. I do agree with the statement that they are not a lot of games on the PS3. To me this statement is true. I also know the reasons why I believe this.
1. The biggest reason is simple because PS3 just came out.
2. It takes time for a system to start coming out with great games that everyone would be interested in. For me, there are not a lot of games I’m interested in. For other this may not be true.
3. Some games on the PS3 came out on the Xbox 360 before the PS3 was even out, or they came out to both systems at the same time.

Mainly I see people telling everyone to buy a PS3. The people that have Xbox 360 usually the reply will be the PS3 doesn’t have enough games on it (which they mean there are not enough PS3 only games) to make it worth spending the money on the new system at this time. I also believe this to be true for a lot of PS2 owners too. This will change with time, there are very good games being release before the end of 2007.

Answering questions with; MS, Sony, PS3, and Xbox360 fanboys, do not make very good answers to me. I really don’t understand this hatred towards Xbox 360 and I don’t really understand why there’s this hatred towards the PS3. They’re both good systems in there own right, both systems have or will have good & bad games on them.

I own both as well. I use my 360 for gaming more than my ps3, but my ps3 is on almost every day to watch blu-rays. In my opinion the 360's graphics peaked with gears of war and i think the ps3 can be far better in this and all other areas. The games coming out for ps3 are more attractive to me than the new 360 games, except for halo 3 of course. I imagine pretty soon that my 360 will start gathering dust, and i can stop listing to the loud noises that the big brick puts out.

I think that has been the main issue .. appreciate you re-stating it like that.

As a casual gamer myself with kids that play way more than me - we are nowhere near getting thru our current crop of PS3 games. And unless our life was only playing games 24/7 and doing little else I don't how we possibly could be.

Blazing Angels
F1
Flow
GT:HD (free)
Madden Football
Motorstorm
NBA 2K7
NHL 2K7
Oblivion
Ridge Racer
RFOM
Tiger Woods
Tony Hawk
Ultimate Alliance
Virtua Tennis

plus all the online aspects for the above..

And a friend is getting us
Need for Speed
Untold Legends

and for me I'm really looking forward to getting F.E.A.R. asap.
And of course sports games in particular have almost endless replay value.

In addition games like RFOM, F1, Oblivion are absolutely huge with significant depth to get thru just in off-line mode. And if you look at this list the quality of most of those games is very very good so there really isn't a game we haven't really enjoyed. Even Blazing Angels that was panned we enjoyed because of the SIXAXIS in particular - it adds a lot to flying games. But the game is inconsistent with it's difficulty of missions - that's it's biggest issue.

Btw playing Virtua Tennis via the SIXAXIS is a *lot of fun* IF it's all human against human - it works very well - even our younger ones can do it. Human against Computer is more difficult - which is the problem with the reviewers take on this feature - IMO.

The quality of a game like GOWII I would say qualifies it as PS3 game at this point - if you were to compare it to some of the "next gen" titles that haven't taken advantage of the PS3 yet - like Tiger Woods or Madden.

We also picked up Champions of Norath:Call to Arms to play on our PS3 even thought it's a PS2 game and there are a lot of *fun* games we have access to and that keep coming on the PS2 .. so it all depends on your perspective. For our kids they are games. Period.

And then there is the backlog on our blu-ray movies..which is another story
