Default Too small?

Blu-ray folks,

Been a while since I posted. And I desperately need to update my blu-ray collection on here. Anyway...

I have a spare room right now being used for storage. It is a 10' x 12' room, which is a little on the small side. However, I have been thinking of converting this in to a small theater. The screen would be on one of the 10' walls. With the projector on the opposite side.

Do you think this might be too small? Anyone else have a small bedroom theater?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

R1V3R5

That's not a bad size for a small home theater. You could easily fit a screen between 92-100" diagonal.

THX specs state that for every 10" of a 16:9 ratio screen you should sit roughly 1 foot away. So ideally you should be about 10' away from a 100" screen.

By that model you could build yourself a sweet little theater. That 100" screen (about 8' wide) would seem even bigger in a small room on a 10' long wall. You'll feel like you're at an IMAX theater. Haha

The only problem is if you try to put in two rows of seating you will need to raise the back row up 2 steps rather than 1. My theater is 14'x19' and the back row would not be able to see the bottom of the screen if I had a larger screen. Right now if the back row reclines and the front doesn't, the back row won't be able to see the bottom of the screen. Heck 4K projectors are good for close viewing anyway. I think you should be sitting closer. IMAX experience at home would be awesome.
