Onkyo Firmware Updates available! - Page 5 - Blu-ray Forum

got this email today:

Thank You for contacting Onkyo USA Product Support.

At this current time we have updates for the DTS MA. The DTS MA update you have a choice to bring it into the service or you can do it yourself. Knowing that you have registered the unit you can go to the link below to download the zip folder and the instructions on how to perform the update. To locate a service center you would go to our website and go to Support and then to Dealer/Service locator to find a local service center. You would provide the service center a copy of the sales receipt so that the service center knows that the unit is under warranty.

Quick question: Using a PS3 with the 605 makes the issue moot, right? Since it's sending as PCM, the update is not necessary to protect the receiver?

note: I know I saw this somewhere else, but couldn't find it again. Sorry in advance!

it depends on how you look at it. i dont plan on using a ps3 forever.

Have you tried to d/l it yet? I cannot get past the login screen. It just sits there and will not advance. Then it times out...

No, I know. And it's was more a curiosity thing; I tend to update all my stuff regardless.

I probably will use a PS3 for the way foreseeable future. But like you say, never know.

the email says something about since i registered my product. i have a username and password. havent tried yet wanted to spread the good news. maybe i or someone can get a copy out there for everyone.

Never mind...got in and downloaded. Getting ready to unzip and burn to CD-R.

You'll have to register at Club Onkyo to get the update I'm assuming. Unfortunately I don't have my serial number handy so I can't do it now.

OK kinda figured this out, iTunes seems to be the problem, playing a song with quicktime is fine. Once you guys have updated if you could test this that would be great.

As for the HDMI i had re-run audysey and change bass levels way up but it seems ok now.

Anyone know how to get 5.1 from the XMB?

guess it is. i wish someone would have explained to me a long time ago how dsp updates are all the same when i kept asking elswhere.

Damn, I can't get this thing to work. Tried 4 different CD/DVD players and none of them will work with this!

its working for me. im using a sony rcd-w500c

You seem pretty knowledgeable about this stuff. Could I use my old DVD player to complete the firmware upgrade?(I cant get to the site right now)
