Default Question about UK imports

I know this is a newbie question for all you collectors that have been collecting imports for years but here goes...

Are the standard UK blu ray boxes wider along the spine than the standard US blu rays. I just received the UK reel heroes sleeve edition of Pitch Black and even though it was a single disc box it was significantly wider. Several years ago I bought the UK release of Notting Hill and I don't remember the box being this wide (although since I change all my boxes to Viva elite I could have just forgotten the different dimensions)... just wondering.

The UK imports I've bought over the years normally have thicker cases.

Thanks for the quick replies guys... I really didn't remember my Notting Hill being this thick but then my mind isn't what it once was.

They're thicker, but sometimes I've been able to fit the artwork into a standard U.S. case.

Most UK releases are in the same-sized case the PS3 uses for its games.

Me, I like the US ones best. Thinner means more will fit on my shelf.
I prefer the US ones as well... Thick enough to easily read the spines but still making the most of your available shelf space. Having said that i like the size of the US cases though, i often prefer the artwork on releases in other regions...Shaun of the Dead being a perfect example.

Most releases are thicker, but I have the UK version of Alpha Dog and its in the same type of case as the US releases, so maybe on all are.

I've always wondered why US cases were slimmer than UK and AUS cases.
