Default 4/$10 DVDs at Big Lots this weekend

If you don't mind DVDs, they can sometimes have good titles; and many that aren't yet on BD:

EDIT: Sunday & Monday.

As indicated, none of the $5 DVDs are eligible, but that seems to be a good chunk of their stock and they're mixed in with the $3 DVDs. Makes finding four eligible DVDs a pain. With that said, I did walk out with some:

- Paradise Alley (Stallone and pro wrestlers!)
- Madigan (detective movie with Richard Widmark and Henry Fonda)
- Transit (Jim Caviezel - been wanting this one)
- Tank ('80s movie with James Garner and C. Thomas Howell - looks ridiculously cheesy, LOL) - Edit: It's 4:3 (non-OAR). Yuck. Only realized that after I opened it. But there's no widescreen DVD available, and I won't hold my breath waiting for a Blu.

There were also a couple of $1.50 clearance movies laying around (YMMV). I picked up:

- Live! (Eva Mendes plays some sort of evil reality/game show host - has a nice cast, with Andre Braugher, David Krumholtz, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Rob Brown, Jay Hernandez, and others)

Out of all of those, it seems that only Transit is already on Blu-Ray. For only $2.50 (practically the price of a rental), I am okay with a DVD. If it's awesome, I'll flip it in the next U&S and get the Blu-Ray.

I might take a look, but the true glory days of the great Big Lots find are long gone. Those who lucked out and were able to find Tales from the Crypt, Flintstones, Scooby Doo, NFL Films, Superman (Reeves), and such dvds a few years ago really hit the jackpot. While I don't really anticipate these sales anymore I still have to give BL huge props for fueling some great cheap additions to my collection over the years.

Meremortal, this sale is dead, but at only 50 cents savings per disc, it wasn't really worth the effort anyway. If you're interested, the regular price on a lot of these is still $3 (with some at $5, which weren't eligible for this sale anyway).

At this point, Big Lots is good for padding out your collection with cheap niche-y DVDs that aren't on Blu yet.

They also have budget Blus now too.

I know I miss those days too. I bought this monster for $10. I paid $7 more for Volume 6 by itself than I did Volume 1 - 5 together. The good ole days...
