Default good entry level hi-def receiver

Could anybody recommend a good budget receiver to start with that will decode all the hi-def audio formats? obviously using the hdmi connections. I don't have a lot of money so something like 700 is out of the question. actually the lower the price the better, but obviously i don't want to buy a piece of junk, a good name brand that will last, but a model that isn't "top of the line"

thanks in adavnce for any advice or recommendations.

Hopefully his entry level receiver will be good for more than 2 weeks.

For anyone interested I just bought the Onkyo 605 for 299.96 at 6th avenue.com. Brand new. 0 shipping 0 sales tax. That's a fantastic deal.
Here is the link for anyone interested.
www.6ave.com
Can't wait to get this up and running.
