I dunno, I'm thinking above 90" should belong to the HT projector people. 4k + OLED is cool IMO even at 55"~65" + is more likely to reach a price point to attract the masses in the future. Right now we gots all these companies basically showing off. These show off sets are not mass produced & anyone who buys them is just contributing to the corporate pockets. I'd say take it easy maaannnn to Samsung & Sony.

4K at 55 - 65" is completely pointless

You have officially convinced me you have not seen a 65 UHD set.

Saw a 4k Sony tv in a store the other day. It was definitely gorgeous, I only have a 50inch, but if I ever get a bigger tv maybe 4k would be ok.

It will obviously be a while before this becomes mainstream tho.

I saw a 70" at a local high end electronic show unfortunately I believe they were just showing picture so I could not see an actual movie in motion, but the 70" was huge I can't even begin to imagine what a 98" looks like.

No it isn't. I saw a Samsung 65" UHD today and the image quality blew me away. Both up close and from a distance.

Between the higher pixel density, the ability to do true 1080P dual view (for two different people to watch two different sources at the same time), the improved color gamut to rec 2020, and the push for a faster HDMI spec, I could see this as a benefit at any screen size.

I am not quite sure why the only piece that people seem to look at is the resolution and miss out on all the other cool features is beyond me. Also what is this complete resistance to newer (clearly better) tech coming.

I am definitely looking forward to the next couple of years. Would love to see UHD (I won't call it 4K because it is 3840x2160 or 2160P as opposed to 4096x2160 or 4K) OLED, faster then 60Hz refresh, HDMI 2.0, and rec 2020 color gamut on a 65+ inch screen for under $3000. I would snap that up as a day one purchase.

Great article OP

As 2014 progresses, I've no doubt we'll see some 4k/HDMI 2.0/OLED for a decent price. Totally looking forward to it...
