DEVILS KNOT (Dir. Atom Egoyan) WM3 film with Witherspoon, Firth, etc. - Blu-ray Forum

Based on the true story of West Memphis 3 and the murders of 3 young buys that were the basis for the Paradise Lost trilogy and West of Memphis. I am guessing this will have lots of information from the book of the same name which was an excellent read.

"The savage murders of three young children sparks a controversial trial of three teenagers accused of killing the kids as part of a satanic ritual"

Egoyan is great and the story has extremely fascinated me for years.

The cast is impressive but I am not a huge fan of many of the leads.

This one premiered last night at the TIFF. have not heard what kinda reviews it is getting but I hope it turns out to be a good film.

With Paradise Lost 3, West of Memphis and now this in less than two years, I'm wondering if we have gotten tired of this story. It's an interesting story (and the Paradise Lost trilogy is Joe Berlinger's magnum opus) but it feels like that it's being overdone.

This is starring Reese "Do You Know My Name?" Witherspoon and she is getting negative reviews for her bad acting here. That's enough to steer clear of this travesty. And Egoyan isn't a good director at all.

I don't know how anyone can dislike the Sweet Hereafter but besides that Egoyan has been all over the place as a filmmaker. A lot of iffy films that don't seem to hold much rewatch value. But I hope this is an interesting dramatization of this story and I hope Egoyan tells it straight forward with no gimmicks.

I'm sorry, but this film has been critically trashed in TIFF. As someone who saw the film, I agree with them. It's more like a bad HBO film. Firth's performance is one of his weakest, and less said about Witherspoon's horrendous acting the better. It is emotionally manipulative and offers nothing new. Even the digital cinematography was terrible.

Well the reviews run the gamut from negative to lukewarm to pretty positive.
You may be right. I am not getting a great feeling about this. I personally dont like Firth or Witherspoon and I am rather concerned about how the scope of the film is supposedly pretty small and only covers events up to the first trial.
