Default A Day with PS4 / PSV / Vita TV - Trailer

Neat trailer which shows a lot of the interraction between the next gen Playstation hardware lineup: PS4 / PS Vita / PS Vita TV

Portrayed: Video share, Multiplayer jump in with invite (KZ: SF), Cross Game Text Chat, Game Suspend, Remote play (Knack) from Wifi connection, Local multiplayer (Vita), Play Vita games or PS1/ PSP on TV with Vita TV (2 players), Watch movies (Vita TV), Spectating tournament via Ustream, support for Clan tournament (KZ: SF)...

P.S: It's nice to be a "cool" Japanese student

PPS: For info, a PS Vita TV is a mini Vita box(obviously without touch screen - it comes bundled with a DS3 apparently though it will be compatible with DS4 and thus have a touch pad, but that will come with a future update), which for $100 offers the following services when connected to your TV and the internet:
- Plays PS1, PSP and PSV games on your TV
- Support Netflix, Hulu and other media players, plus various apps (email, browser, etc)
- PS4 extender (if you have a PS4 in the house, it remote plays it)

Available in November 2013 in Japan, later (probably 2014) elsewhere

Here is the fact sheet for the PSV TV

Look at that, Sony showing some serious game focus. Can't imagine why they are dominating the preorders thus far!

After watching that.. I think the only thing that could top my sheer excitement of all this is if they release a PS4 extender app for the PS3.

Wow! This is a game changer IMO! So according to the article below, I can take Vita TV over to a friend's house, connect it to his TV and stream my PS4 games from MY house through HIS TV?? Holy shit!! THAT'S AWESOME!! That virtually eliminates the need to take your PS4 anywhere!

Quote:
Sony's latest PlayStation hardware might still be flying under your radar, as PS Vita TV was revealed today during a SCEJ livestream in the wee hours of the North American and European mornings. But PS Vita TV should absolutely be at the top of your most-wanted list, because this unassuming little device could change the PlayStation world.

PS Vita TV is a microconsole with multiple functions. Here's why you should be excited:

It will play Vita games in 720p through an HDMI connection to your HDTV.

PS4 games can be streamed to PS Vita TV with Remote Play.

Video content, including Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube can also be streamed.

PSP games and PSone Classics are also compatible, for a current total of 1,300 compatible games.

It will work with DualShock 4 and DualShock 3 controllers. Two controllers can be connected at once. Multiplayer!

You can put PS Vita TV in Standby Mode and return to instantly resume gameplay where you left off.

It's tiny, and weights about 100 grams. How much is 100 grams? Hold up five pieces of sliced bread. Yes, it's that light.

It will cost 9,954 yen, the rough equivalent of $100.

What does it all mean? With PS Vita TV, you can play PS4 and Vita games on any HDTV in the house. When you're home, put Killzone Mercenary on the big-screen. When your significant other wants to watch Bar Rescue on the living room TV, take this tiny device to the bedroom and play inFAMOUS: Second Son where you left off. The convenience and portability of PS Vita TV will be like having a PS4 for every TV you own and a Vita with HDMI out. You'll never be without entertainment, whether it takes the form of blockbuster games, stellar indie titles, the latest movies and TV shows, or streaming music.

That's not even considering possibilities outside the home. Remote Play works over any internet connection, so the days of lugging your PS4 to LAN parties and home for the holidays are over. Instead, put PS Vita TV in your jeans pocket. Or your shirt pocket. Or your purse. Hell, twiddle it through your fingers before plugging it in and playing Destiny, or Watch Dogs, or The Elder Scrolls Online anywhere you go.

Western release dates have yet to be announced, but PS Vita TV is dropping in Japan on November 14, 2013--one day before PS4 launches in North America. Coincidence? I don't think so, but regardless, I want this device in my life as soon as possible. With multiple gamers, TVs, and consoles in my house, moving hardware and accommodating for different play spaces is a pain, and once I get my PS4, I know I won't want to move it in those precious first few weeks. Plus, I'm anxious to see how games like Lumines: Electronic Symphony, Persona 4 Golden, and Uncharted: Golden Abyss will play on an HDTV with a DualShock controller.

PS Vita TV is the perfect device for me, the PlayStation gamer. Bravo, Sony. I haven't been this excited about a hardware announcement since PS4 itself.

Check out the next page for full hardware specs and details, straight from Sony.

what's amazing is how well it bridges the PS4 and the Vita together.

some were afraid it would hamper the sales of the Vita, but I really don't see it that way... It actually makes me want one now

For less than the price of 2 PS4s (I currently have 2 PS3s, one in the living room, and one in the bedroom), I can not only play the PS4 games anywhere in my house (or anywhere else I can find a solid Wifi or wired connection) if I feel like transporting my little 100 grams box, but also taking my gaming on the go with a Vita.

It has been hinted that you also can (or will be able to) play using your Vita as a controller, which could eliminate eventually a lot of the problems associated with the lack of touch screen. The eventual use of DS4 (it will be patched in) will also alleviate this problem imo.

But haven't they already said you can just log into a friends system or give permission from yours to play your library on their system? I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

Sure but what if they don't have a PS4? You can take Vita TV to their house, hook it up and start streaming PS4 games onto their TV!

Also, What if you want to play PS4 but someone else is occupying the main TV? You can take Vita TV to your bedroom, hook it up to your TV in there and bam! You're playing PS4 in your bedroom without the need of moving systems around or having an extra console.

This is about playing ps4 via remote play through your vita tv at your friend house who doesn't have a ps4 or vita TV.

Good point about the friend not having a system. Totally slipped my mind. I really have to wonder how well it'll actually work though.

If you were to take the vita tv to a friends house to play, would your ps4 have to stay on at your house for it to work elsewhere? I'm really regretting getting rid of my ps vita last year. May have to buy another one now after I get the ps4 and vita tv. Hopefully there'll be a ps4/vita tv bundle price next year.

Well, they had to use the absolute worst Spiderman movie to showcase the Vita TV's media features now, didn't they?

While the movie being worst is ones opinion, I think the point stand. Kids walk in, see parents watching good/terrible movie, goes into another room with Vita TV, and plays PS4 games with DS4 without needing a PS4 there. (Still has to turn the system on elsewhere of course)

If you hate the movie, the commercial backs your taste, as it shows the kids leaving at the sight of the movie. It's a fair trade.

Probably, most likely. It's a remote-play thing, I'm not too familiar with it. But the commercial shows the kid turning the PS4 on in one room in order to play it through Vita TV in another room. So I guess you will need it on.

But maybe you can turn it on or off via phone apps, or command through Vita TV? Perhaps down the road. Or whichever, assuming.

Well isn't one of the features of the PS4 is that it's always on? I was thinking they said it would go into "stand by" mode when not being used and when you do want to use it, the home button reactivates it. I would assume you can do the same thing via remote play with the DS4.

Remote play will turn the system on when it's activated.

PS Vita TV is not coming to US or Europe

Quote:
Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House recently spoke on the future of the PS Vita TV and explained that there are no current plans to bring Vita TV to the US or Europe, a curious decision considering the company isn’t planning to bring the PS4 to Japan until February of 2014.

House explained that the Vita TV will be launched in Japan first since they have no clear leader in streaming media devices, and the hope is Sony would becomes that leader. With a strong foothold in Japan, Sony may decide to expand to other markets, but that is pure speculation at this point.
