United Kingdom Yellow Sky - anyone have this?

Just wondering if anyone has this disc by Odeon and whether its the same encode as the german disc or a better/worse/different encode? From screenshots I have seen of the german disc, it looks decent but it might have compression problems given how small the filezise is.

Yeah I have this disc, I wouldn't be able to compare it to the German release but would say the PQ is high. Its not a full restoration job or anything but is nicely rendered in HD, I guess I would compare it to an Olive release in that the specks & debris are still present on occasion but it looks surprisingly sharp overall.

Thanks for the comments. There are screenshots of the german disc here:

Would you say they look comparable or does the UK disc look different?

Just an update, I picked this up because it's really cheap right now at base.com.

Have not had time to watch it on my tv yet but it's a 1080p transfer in AVC with 2.0 PCM audio and a healthy 22.5GB file size (50% bigger than the german disc).

If it's the same master, which I will shortly confirm, this is the version to get.

Thank you. I have been waiting for a price drop for the longest time and £6.29 is a lot lower than my price point

Finally got around to checking it out on my setup, it's the same master as the german disc and the Fox R1 DVD. A few damage marks here and there but otherwise this is a solid 4/5 transfer. And as I said above, compression should be better than the german disc (bitrate is in low 30's).

With Fox's back catalog being in uncertain limbo, I recently imported the Odeon BD after reading this very thread in hopes it might have somewhat of a more competent encode - considering the respective Kino/Koch discs are compression disasters. For the most part, it's seems to be a better viewing experience. The grain's still not rendered as tight as it could be, and there's definitely artifacting that crops up throughout the film - particularly in the shadowy/darker areas. In one part, between 36:00-39:00, the bitrate drops to dismally low levels, resulting in some seriously craptastic macroblocking/banding. That was shoddiest selection that stood out to me in motion (apart from a few seconds when they're in the gold mine), but overall, this will probably remain the best BD option available compared to the others overseas... (except for the cover art, lol).
