the picture quality is alot better, though...right?

you make it sound like it's the same thing with the blu-ray name stamped on it..

Also, I'm buying it mostly to support animation on Bluray. This sells horrible, and other studios area bit more hesitant to release their stuff. This sells well, and they are a little more laxed about releasing them. Even if the picture quality is only a teeny bit better, I'll be happy.

Whatever dude. I'm still not willing to fork over my hard earned dollars for crap, High-def BD crap or not.

I already gave this a chance on DVD and believe me, it's crap.

No no, I agree its crap as well, as I said in the original post.

I AM willing to fork over my hard earned dollars to support animation on the format.

This wasnt a review thread, just letting people know it showed up early at some stores, if they were interested.

What did suprise me was that apparently Lionsgate has decided to upgrade the title to support a PCM 7.1 soundtrack, which is not what they claimed on their original PR. What they originally claimed was just DD5.1EX ripped right off the DVD and that's all.

Sigh, I wish anime studios would start releasing high quality 2D animation here. It's really sad we're 6mos in and this is the best (and only thing) we've got.

I guess I'll just keep buying anime on DVD.

Totally agreed. SO much anime posibilities out there. Heck, even if it was a couple Disney/Ghibli films. Figured those would be REALLY easy to push out for us.

SO many things I would have rather had to have first.

What's even worse is that even if I'd like to upgrade to the BD version of these they're worth nothing on Half.com (people are selling the DVDs for $2) so it's not even worth the bother.

TOTAL CRAP!!!

Ultimate Avengers are suppose to be in 720p or better. Remember the saying...one man's junk is another man's treasure. Since I don't rent, I will buy this and make my judgement after watching. But, thanks for the heads up.

I have an anime title on Blu-ray that blows away anything else in that category so far. The title is Innonence (Ghost in the Shell 2). It is 1080p with 7.1 uncompressed PCM and tons of extras. You might want to check it out.

I'm well aware of Innocense but I don't really feel like paying $60+ for it to import it. Thanks anyways.

Agreed. They need to learn not to release crap-quality merchandise at high prices. I haven't seen it, and can't comment on the quality. Perhaps it will be stellar.

I'm not an anime fan...but I liked the 1st Ultimate Avengers....packaging them together was smart as I wouldn't expect mnay to buy the 2nd...

so I'll be buying this as long as it looks HD....720p is fine as I have a 720p display...

Default Wow!

I have never seen the Ultimate Avengers 1 or 2 before today. I figured I would try it out...and WOW! I really liked the Ultimate Avengers Collection! The 1080p PQ and 7.1 sound was great! The 7.1 LPCM track on in the first Ultimate Avengers was lacking on the bass end of things, but Ultimate Avengers 2 soundtrack was amazing!

I think I know why some people said the second Ultimate Avengers sucked. It's because the second one actually was 70% drama and 30% action (plus the Hulk didn't have much of an appearance in this one). Some people can't handle drama in live action comics. I can enjoy drama and action in titles. I guess that comes from watching Anime. Personally, I enjoyed both titles.

At first, I talked about how badly I was raped on the $34.99 purchase from Best Buy. Now, I say it was definitely worth it! If you like comics or animation, I would say pick this one up!

Sweet. I didn't realize it had a 7.1 LPCM track. That's quality. Do you have speakers that take advantage of this? I hope more and more movies come with the 7.1 rather than 5.1 currently shipping.

No, that's not why we said it sucks. It sucks because it's a piss poorly encoded/animated title, oh but the script sucks too (but that's just besides the point).

You only think it's good because it's the first example of 2D 1080p HD animation you've seen so far. Go buy Ghost in the Shell: Innocense and you'll see the huge difference in what a good quality animated title can make.

I liked them both both a lot. And Dr. Strange looks like it's going to be sick! Is that Ghost in the Shell English dubbed? I remember the DVD wasn't.

No, the BD is subbed only. But unfortunately it's the only other 2D animated title accessable to the English speaking market. I don't intend buying it only because it's so expensive to import ~$65.

I sure do! I hope movie titles come with 7.1 sound too. I only have two, but they are some of my most priced BDs.

I went with the super-saver shipping from amazon and still got it the day after it came out....

I watched the 1st one again...I liked it and the 2nd one wasn't bad...but could have used more action...

by putting these both on one disc...BD is merely just flexing right now..

Poorly encoded...explain. Tell me what you didn't like about the script.

As far as GiTS: Innocence is concerned, it is my other 7.1 LPCM title in my collection. Didn't I say I watch Anime? I also have GiTS: Innocence on DVD and the first GiTS movie and GiTS: Stand Alone Complex series.

Could the animation have been better? Yes. Could it have been better considering their budget? Doubtful. You have to understand that Anime movies get played in theaters when they come out in Japan. They usually have much bigger budgets to work with. You don't get those types of budgets in the US for animation features. That is one reason why they come out directly on home video. That is why I appreciate the animation for what it is in the US. I will continue to enjoy this title and present it to others. It's too bad you can't enjoy this BD title like I can.
