Dragon Ball: Battle of Z developer Artdink and Namco Bandai are developing a Madoka Magica for consoles. Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram was announced for PlayStation Vita slated for release this winter. The game will be a 3D action game. Stay tuned for more details.
Update: Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram has an original storyline, which the Magica Quartet supervised.
The game is split into two parts. During the day, you can have conversations and bond with characters. At night, you fight witches and the bond with your partner changes depending on your performance in battle.
Madoka Kaname is playable and her weapon is a bow of light. When Madoka is in a pinch Kyubey can assist her. Homura Akemi has the power to control time. Marie Tomoe is a long range fighter that can tie up enemies using her ribbons. Sayaka Miki is the opposite, a short range fighter that uses a sword. Sayakas edge is shes quick and powerful. Kyoko Sakura has a spear so shes a short to middle distance fighter.
Both the original storyline and unique Soul Gem battle system for Namco Bandai and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z developer Artdinks upcoming title Puella Magi Madoka: The Battle Pentragram have been released.
Going into battle during the Night portion of the game, players choose one magical girl to control as she delves into a witchs domain alongside an AI-controlled partner. The game then turns into a 3D action-adventure title. Players have health and mana bars to manage, with more powerful skills costing more mana to use.
Both are infinite resources, but its possible to recharge them using the Soul Gem system. Each character has a Soul Gem that starts off at three charges. One charge will completely refill either health or mana, while three brings a girl back to life if she falls in battle. While its possible to level up Soul Gem charges by defeating bosses, players will have to carefully manage this limited resource.
The original story is supervised by Magica Quartetthe series creatorsand is a What if take on the Madoka series. The Madoka series has girls exchanging their souls for Soul Gems to become magical girls who fight witches and monsters. Unfortunately, Soul Gems which absorb too much grief and despair turn their users into the very witches they fight against.
The Battle Pentagram starts from the first two Puella Magi Madoka movies, but spins off when main heroine Madoka Kaname makes a different wish: Wishing instead for All five girls to have the faith and reliance on each other to defeat Walpurgis Night, the game now sets players to building up the bonds of trust and friendship between the five magical girls: Madoka Kaname, Homura Akemi, Mami Tomoe, Sayaka Miki and Kyoko Sakura as they seek to destroy the witches plaguing the human world.
To do so, the Day half of the game will have players conversing characters with one another to build relationship hearts. How players perform with each other during the Night battle half will also affect these bonds. Each girl comes equipped with their own form of weaponry: Madoka uses a bow with light arrows, while her main partner Homura can control time and uses more conventional guns. Mami and Sayaka are polar opposite weapon users, the former using long-range ribbons and rifles and the latter a sword and fast speed to dash up to foes. Kyoko uses a chained staff that lets her either keep her distance or get in close.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram will be out for the Sony PlayStation Vita in winter 2013.
Namco Bandai has a Madoka Magica game for PlayStation Vita and its coming out on December 12 for 5,980 yen ($60). Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram is a 3D action game with an original story.
Players spend the days talking with characters to build up relationship hearts. At night, you pick a magical girl and dive into witch domains. Five playable characters have been announced so far. Madoka uses a bow and arrow while Homura uses a machine gun.
Namco Bandai is developing Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram for PlayStation Vita and the limited edition bundle has some unique items. On top of the game, you get an art book, Dessert Witch screen cleaner (I think thats Charlottes second form), soundtrack CD, a code for five extra costumes, and a Voice World with Homuras Time Travel.
Whats Voice World? Its an interactive phone call with an anime character. You actually call the characters phone number and then punch in a code to access the story. Namco Bandai developed this service and launched it with a bunch of Idolm@ster characters that players help during the call. The story changes depending on your responses so its kind of like a visual novel, sans the visuals.
The Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram limited edition retails for 8,980 yen ($90) and a standalone game is 5,980 yen ($60). The game comes out on December 19 and first print copies also include a Voice World code for Mami Tomoes Hotline.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram has players fight witches and the triangle button works magic. Press it to do a basic attack like using Madokas bow or a Beretta shot if youre Homura.
If you press triangle while dashing youll do a dash attack. All characters also have magic attacks (d-pad + triangle), a step attack (Mami does a Moonsault Kick), and two kinds of aerial magic spells. For example, if Sayaka is ascending she does an Aerial Stinger, but if shes falling her mid-air attack changes to Spark Edge.
The square button is for special magic. These spells consume MP, but they are stronger than regular attacks and become even more powerful when you level up.
The most powerful attack is combination magic. You can gain these spells when you increase your bond with other characters during daytime. Madoka and the other magical girls only have to fight witches at night. Bond levels also increase how often your partner character will come to your aid if your character is hurt during battle.
The limited edition includes a code that adds five extra costumes to the game. Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram comes out on December 19.
Namco Bandai have shared a trailer for Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram, that shows off gameplay footage from the upcoming PlayStation Vita game. You can watch the trailer below, and in case you need to get caught up on how the game plays, you can read our previous report on the title for details.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram will be released in Japan on December 19th.
Dengeki Online began streaming character videos for Gekijō-ban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram (Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: The Battle Pentagram) PlayStation Vita game on Wednesday. The videos showcase Madoka, Mami, Sayaka, Kyoko, and Homura's abilities in battle. Dengeki Online is hosting additional screenshots.
The channel also added three battle videos featuring Homura, Madoka, and Sayaka versus Gertrud the Rose Garden Witch and Mami versus Charlotte the Dessert Witch.
The game takes place during the events of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 1: Beginnings and Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 2: Eternal films but with a wish that changes everything: "What if all five of the magical girls trusted each other and worked together as a team?"
Artdink (Dragonball Z: Battle of Z, Gundam Battle franchise) is developing the 3D action game for PS Vita, and the original anime's Magica Quartet is supervising the brand-new, original scenario. The game will have two parts, depending on the time of day. In daytime, the player can have the magical girls interact and increase the bonds between them. In nighttime, the five magical girls battle witches. Players can keep track of their soul gem's power with a gauge that appears on the bottom left of the screen during battle.
The game will ship on December 19 in a limited edition for 8,980 yen (about US$90) and standard edition for 5,980 yen (US$60). The limited edition comes in a gold-leaf decorated box with an original soundtrack CD, a Charlotte witch portable screen, a product code for five extra outfits, and a tentatively-titled "Homura's Time Travel" Voice World chat number. Those who pre-order the game will receive an additional Voice World number for Mami. Those who call the hotline numbers can chat "interactively" with the two magical girls.
