It is not getting good write ups. Very slow apparently. Don't know about the 3D quality though.

honestly it's quite well shot and the 3D is ALL depth, but actually looks good for what it is and isn't lazy, or converted.

it's clearly there to enhance the claustrophobia and sense of space, and it's nice to have it there, but it is ultimately unnecessary. it's just a nice bonus feature if you have access to it.

the film itself is certainly above average, it's actually trying to be good and had the resources to be good (the actors, the cinematography, the sound design, the filmmakers seem competent) but it doesn't lend itself well to multiple viewings.

Thanks for the mini review. Good to hear the 3D was nice. I remember seeing the box art awhile back online.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Static 3D quality. Thanks. If this is a horror movie, and in strong 3D, it's a plus.

Dawn of the Dead 78 will be in 3D hopefully by summer 2014 on blu ray 3D.
The horror ghost movie Mama would have been great in 3D also. More horror in 3D is welcome. Dario Argento put out Dracula 3D, which I didn't see yet. What other horror 3D movies on the way or on video?

Smile a little late..

I just realised I never posted my thoughts on this movie.

I liked it, Im about to watch it again.I remember not being blown away by the 3D or anything like that, but it is certainly watchable.

It has really good depth and everything is shaped as it should be with 3D cameras. While there are not pop outs as such , it does break the screen barrier with many "normal " shots.

It also has an interesting twist towards the end which I wont ruin for those who will see it.

I have a question about the 3d. I actually really liked the movie and thought the end was good but I don't understand the 3d. I set it to 3d and my projector made the adjustment and the menu screen was obviously in 3d but everything else looked totally flat! Usually when a movie is 3d it lokks blurry without the glasses. This movie it looks perfect if u take your glasses off! I was worried my oppo bluray was malfunctioning. It turns out its fin3. Otber movies look great. Is my bluray 3d defective? Or is this really low level 3d? Ive read that its depth only, but I didnt notice any 3d effect whatsoever!

Probably a defective encoding. Unless you are just using some form of 2D-3D conversion.

Ahh. So it is the blu-ray itself. Good thing I bought it on amazon. They will have a new one to me by Mon.

I watched this on my Oppo BDP-93 and there was no problem with the 3D. Great depth, but TONS of banding and compression which almost ruined it- worst I've ever seen on a Blu-Ray.

8 trax. One question. Did u see what it looks like without the glasses on? Does 8t look blurry like most other 3d movies? I suspected when I noticed that It didnt appear blurry at all and was more watchable without the glasses on that something was wrong with the blu-ray itself. I just didnt want to go thru the trouble of returning it without knowing that everyone didnt have the same experience.

Yep, it looks like most other 3D movies without the glasses.

I'm not sure if your situation would be a defective disc, or something with your equipment. I just remembered when watching "Dredd" in 3D, the effect in that was pretty underwhelming and looking at it without the glasses didn't show much separation, but others have said the 3D in it was excellent and there must have been something wrong with my equipment.

Thanks for the response. Amazon is sending me another one and I'm sending this one back. I watched Star Trek, Dial M for Murder, and Predator after Static and all of them worked perfectly. Hopefully it is something with the disc.

It turns out that the new disc works like a champ. I was actually impressed with the 3d in the beginning of the movie. Too bad I didn't get to see it in 3d the first time. I am glad that it isn't my equipment though. Thanks for the help!

I got the German 3D blu of this in the post today and I just watched it tonight and absolutely loved it. Great 3D, strong and very evident throughout. Loads of amazing depth and great volume. The movie was really good too with good performances and strong direction. The story was very compelling and there was great atmosphere and mood throughout. I highly recommend it for the 3D and the fact that it's a very effective movie all round.

Wow, I wasn't expecting this would be that good, but it sounds above my expectations for the 3D and even the movie. Thanks.
I had a chance to get it new for $10 but didn't know enough about it so I passed. Now it's $20 with shipping or so.

Yeah it's great, it's about a couple of who have lost their child recently, the man is a writer and they live in a secluded house in the middle of nowhere. One night a mysterious stranger turns up at their door... I won't say anymore but don't watch the trailer as i'm sure it would spoil loads of the movie. It kept me on the edge of my seat and what i thought was one thing, then turned out to be another. It's very clever and whilst it may borrow some concepts from other movies, it's put together in a strong package. Milo Venitmiglia from Heroes is very good as the main guy and all the other performances are solid. Most of the movie plays out as a home invasion style movie but there is a lot more to it than that and really, that is just scratching the surface.

It's a very serious film with literally no humour whatsoever so the 3D is certainly not gimmicky and doesn't utilise any pop outs, it helps to draw you into the environments and it really adds to the tension throughout. Most of the movie is set at night but this is not a problem as they have clearly lit accordingly for the 3D photography. The 3D is soooo nice though, very strong, lots of layers, great depth, it's really effective and one of the best 3D horror movies available at the moment as far as i'm concerned. I was expecting something trashy but got the complete opposite and i'm delighted. M
