Default "Cloverfield" = Meant for Home-Viewing?

So says producer (and writer/director in his own right, needless to say) J.J. Abrams.

I completely agree. For a standard DVD, Cloverfield played REALLY well on my BR player. I'd probably go as far as to say it was better than a good amount of the Blu-Rays I have.

The Audio was very disappointing. I saw it with the DTS track in the theater three times. It was the best audio I have heard since JP. It was terribly compressed. PQ was actually good though.

I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing this on Blu. The audio should be amazing.

I watched it at home & quite enjoyed the movie, i think some peoples expectations were set high for this movie with all the marketing & it didn't measure up to that

But if your just after a flick without any expectations, it won't fail to entertain, definitely leaves you with questions that go unanswered but isn't that hollywoods answer to leaving a possible sequel open

For those that have seen the movie, how much shaking of the camera is involved? I don't mind a little, but sometimes it just gets annoying.

oh man...that's not good. I was watching 28 weeks later last night and thought they strapped the camera to a monkey riding a dog

lol, 28 weeks was tame in comparison. We're literally talking like a guy holding a handheld and running all the time with all the motion and jerking that goes along with it.

the difference between each of the two movies is
1. 28 Weeks Later's shaky cam added nothing. It didn't add intensity and it was just annoying.
2. Cloverfields shaky cam is there for a reason.

I personally HATE shaky cam. Bourne made me throw up in the theater. I saw Cloverfield three times and never noticed it. It just makes you feel like your with these people. Although I do suggest a rent.

I was also surprised by how good the DVD looked. I picked it up now since I figured with the way the movie is, it wouldn't exactly be spectacular on Blu-ray if/when it is released on it (not so much better where as I would spend $10-15 extra anyway). The DVD did pretty good upscaled and don't think it could any better than it was. The audio might be better though. I do remember it kicking a lot more ass in the theatre... though I didn't really crank the volume up on my first viewing.

Looks like we have that in common, hate the shaky cam. I enjoyed the 1st bourne movie, own the extended cut (which by the way made the movie 10x better), the 2nd one was meh, and if I remember it was more shaky.

The movie could look A LOT better! If you have a PS3 download the HD trailer and you will see what I mean.

Easy enough to do, here's how:

The night before you watch it, invite 10 of your rowdiest friends over, supply them with unlimited amounts of alcohol and leave your apartment.

It's very important to tell them to not clean anything up.

While you're away, go to an amusement park and ride every roller coaster you can.

After you come back you'll have the feeling that you just sat through a 2 hour movie where the camera operator twitches like a crack addict and you'll have the vomit on your floor {in the theaters it was the folks getting sea sick from all the movement} to boot.

Problem solved.

Logan
