Default Who was the better villain? Loki or The Joker?

Loki

I vote for Loki.

This ridiculous amount of praise for Ledger's performance is annoying. I honestly believe that it exists because he died and also because people like riding bandwagons. Ledger's joker wasn't even much of a Joker he was just a generic bad guy who happened to wear clown's makeup. Aside from the bit with the pencil, he made no jokes...which is bad because he's supposed to be the Joker. If you took away the weird voice, lip licking, and sloppy makeup, he would have received little to no praise for the performance. 90% of the performance was aesthetics.

Joker is a far better villain than the ice lord Loki, although in the comics Loki is a lot more powerful than he's shown to be so far in the Avengers films.

In almost every way the Joker and Loki is one of the worst Marvel villains.

If that was actually correct, it would've been "are".

In Thor he was very well acted and written, in a Shakespearean manner that Kenneth Branagh was perfect for. If you didn't feel any sort of emotion for his character, at least near the end, then so be it, but he was far from bad. On the other hand, I'd give you that for The Avengers, but then again, if someone is judging his character by that film alone then the judge is doing him a disservice. That was the culmination of years of playing the second fiddle.

I didn't even think about Thor. Thor is my favorite of the phase one movies, too which doesn't really help. Touché.

Heath Ledger was incredible as the joker. I don't necessarily think he deserved the Oscar but I understand. Still better thank Loki though.

Loki was more intimidating than the Joker.

Ledger's Joker was huge and controversial leap from Nicholson's, he didn't bother with an accurate origin and redefined the character as a nihilist/anomist. Ledger's protrayal is superb, look at his hunched posture and the way he moves his mouth. Loki is simply a severe case of sibling rivalry with extra-terrestrial powers and there's not really a lot any actor can do with that.

I've grown weary of Christopher Nolan's Batman films, but I'm still in awe of Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker. He owned that movie.

I like The Avengers better than I like any of the Dark Knight films, but Loki was the weaker villain. I believe that Tom Hiddleston was impressive, and I believe that he did everything he could to squeeze juice from the role of Loki, but the character was underwritten.

One could say the same about Hiddleston. The difference is that Ledger actually had a well written character and gave a great performance.

They're two completely different styles of superhero movies/villains; it's like comparing Watchmen with The Incredibles.

Anyway, I voted for Joker, because he was (by necessity) more Villainous. But I'm not really sure it's fair to compare the two at all.
Well played

Jim Carrey played a better Loki in The Mask than Tom Whatshisname in the Marvel movies.
