Default Oppo BDP-83 and Pacific Rim

Anybody with this model having an issue playing The Directors Notebook feature on the Pacific Rim Blu Ray? It would be greatly appreciated if somebody could report back on if it works for them or not. Thanxalot.

Have you tried the old standby-erasing persistent storage? Have bd-live turned off?

I'm having the same issue but I have the BDP 80. I'm starting to look for a new player.

I mentioned your observation and the other post from szub concerning the same with a BDP-80 to Oppo.

It's been over 1 1/2 since the last firmware update. The chances of it getting fixed are very slim.

If it is a obvious BD-Java update that is preventing playback, usually a update is provided. Like any problem, feedback is key. Let Oppo know if you can't play a new title.

Question Similar Problem

Hi.
While not having tried to play Pacific Rim, I am having a problem trying to play Banshee Season-1. Are any other BDP-83 owners also having issues with new release BDs?

In my case it boots all the way to "Chapter" or "Play All" then when either is selected the screen just goes blank. I have done the usual things - erasing persistent storage, factory reset and power cycle but nothing works. BD-Live is always turned off. The player won't let me upgrade from the latest Beta to the latest Official release presumably because it sees them as being the same.

Any way I have emailed Oppo about this, and when I get it sorted I will pass on the answer.
Regards,
GarryP

The last fault I reported to Oppo was July 2012 and when I asked for an update in Sept, I got quite a dismissive reply about Mediatek not updating their SDK. It's put me off the brand.

Oppo can't force MTK in providing a update against playback issues. But if you contact Oppo again maybe they do have a in house update that is now available for you to try as a test.

Yeah, i'm not thrilled with Oppos response to me either. They are saying it's most likely BD-Java related but they dont know when they will be able to verify. Not the response that I expected from them, didn't seem to concerned which is not the Oppo of the past...

Behind The Candelabra will not play on my Oppo 93 or 83. I let Oppo know. They said will be in the next firmwear update. Disk will start then when you hit play screen goes black. Disk play fine on my old Panasonic BD-35.
