Default The Wicker Man (1973) (The Final Cut)

The Wicker Man Blu-ray

Courtesy of Lionsgate

Quote:
When a young girl mysteriously vanishes, Police Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) travels to a remote Scottish island to investigate. But the seemingly quiet community is not as it appears, as the detective uncovers a secretive pagan society led by the strange Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee). While the townsfolk tempt and threaten him with bizarre rituals and wanton lust, Howie must race to discover the truth behind the girl's disappearance before his clash with Lord Summerisle builds to a terrifying conclusion - one that has cemented this cult shocker as a modern horror masterpiece.

Kind of looks like Wal-mart ported over the special features from the DVD. Looking forward to more details. This is the first title of my Signature wish-list that I can retire!

I think Lionsgate distributes Studio Canal titles so that makes sense.

Lovely, my Zavvi steelbook will be here any day...wonder what the chances would be for this to be the same as the BD release in the UK.( with the 2x BDs).
Might be a double dip in the future for me if so

Better come with all three cuts, even if the other ones are only in standard definition. It sounds like The Final Cut loses some material that I'll miss.

Will this be the newly released(In the UK) Final Cut of the film, or the Theatrical? Personally I hope it's both, but I'm definitely excited for this release and more info on it.

This film has limited cult appeal so I don't know what the reasoning is behind Lionsgate's decision to release this now. We're talking about a company that has practically disowned catalog releases. Chances are it'll just be a barebones release with horrible modern artwork to reel in the unsuspecting masses, so I'll just stick with the import even if it's a bit pricey.

Lionsgate reissued TWM on dvd when they took over the Studio Canal catalogue from Anchor Bay so it comes as no surprise that they issue the blu-ray following the UK release.

http://psychobabble200.blogspot.com/...t-blu.html?m=1

According to this site, posted back when the UK "final cut" was announced, we're apparently getting the same Special Edition too, around December. (January is around December). The info's allegedly from "Studio Canal insiders", regard the US Lionsgate blu-ray.

I really hope we get the same thing, content wise, but I really hate the new UK art.
But I wouldn't die if they used it.
