Im planning on getting a PSP this weekend and I was wondering what games to get. I mostly like RPG's and puzzle games, anybody got suggestions?

For quality RPG's I'd recommend:
Jeanne d'Arc Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII but they're not out yet. ![]() ![]() Puzzle games: Lumines (Japanese music flavour) Lumines II (Worldwide music flavour) I.Q. Mania (great PlayStation 1 puzzle game, don't know how the PSP version turned out, looks like it's import only) |

You said you like RPGs, so I would suggest a game I have called Blade Dancer, Lineage of Light. As soon as I get my homebrew going, I might sell it on Ebay. /grin
And speaking of Ebay, I got a 2gb Pro2Duo memory card for $27.99 if I remember correctly. The con about the memory card was I had to wait like 9 days for it to be shipped from Hong Kong. Some people say that the memory card is a fake but I don't care, it works for what I need it for. So far, I've saved games on it and also I've had movies on the card, and the movies have all played flawlessly. And if you're into watching movies on your PSP, I would suggest you follow this link and learn how to convert your DVDs to MP4 format. http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/dvdtopsp.html You also need this to get the DVD file to your hard drive. |

if you are taking the psp out of the house even if you have a carry case i would say the best investment would be a hard face plate that screws in the top with easy. i have had my psp two years now and the screen and front look as new as the day i got it, other peoples psp's that i know look like they have seen better days. besides protection it makes a good sun screen as it flips up, while at home i unscrew the plate off in seconds.
I am very careful with my stuff but accidents do happen. |

Homebrew is cool, from an outsiders view. I don't have it yet because I upgraded my PSP to 3.30 and there hasn't been a downgrader put out yet for it. But with homebrew you can store your games on your memory card so you don't have to carry the discs everywhere you go. From what I understand the games can get up to sizes of 380mb or more so you might need a 4gb memory card, (as will I).
There are alot of other stuff you can do with homebrew. See this website. http://www.psp-hacks.com/ |

I'd recommend Puzzle Quest, but the PSP version has a few glaring issues.
Until they address the problems with freezing and crashes, stick with Lumines for puzzle goodness. There are a few RPGs worth tackling on the PSP. Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition was worth an import since it has an english language option. But then again, I've been in a retro mood lately. Valkyrie Profile is a must have if you missed it's original PSX iteration. If you're more into the hack and slash RPG style like Diablo, there's a Dungeon Siege game available on the PSP too. Spectral Souls is an overlooked game, but I'd only play it from the memory stick on a homebrew capable PSP "overclocked" to 333 mhz. Otherwise the loading times are downright unbearable. The homebrew scene for the PSP is simply amazing. Being able to tote around all my games on memory sticks while my UMDs live at home in storage is just so convenient. That they also load faster off the memory stick than UMD and consume less battery power is just icing on the cake. Oh... and my old PSX games have been dug out of storage again and gotten some play. Yeah, it'd be nice if there were a few more quality PSP games around, but until then I can content myself with Xenogears and Final Fantasy 9 while mobile... |
