Use imdb. Search movies you love, check the director and/or star you admire, see what else they've done and find ones that appeal to you, then check back on here to see if they've been released on blu-ray. If they have, get them (after seeing if you like the movie or not first), if not, go to the appropriate threads and recommend it, see if others agree with you.

You're missing a lot of great stuff but that just means there's so much great stuff to discover and own. What's great to us though, might be the complete opposite of a must-own for you. I love 2001: A Space Odyssey but should my action/dumb comedy loving father own it? No. He appreciates its influence but finds no enjoyment whatsoever in the experience and would therefore never watch his copy.

These are all great suggestions ... Some have asked ... Why ask for others suggestions ... Because I tend to like quality movies rather than a specific genre ... I have just recently started branching away from my comfort zone ... So I am really interested in seeing which titles you movie buffs think are indespencible.

So I looked for and saw "Unforgiven." Mmm-hmmm. Check.

Based on those two films, a glaring omission would be Tombstone.

Also, Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch.

And The Outlaw Josey Wales.

And The Man with No Name Trilogy.

Wild Bunch and Tombstone just ordered ... Already had Josey Wales ( incidentally my dog is named after the title character). ... Was not in my list by mistake.
