Neural 7.1 and HD-MA

hola,

i have an onkyo 805 receiver which has a sound mode selection of 'neural 7.1 surround'. i understand that this setting will split source 5.1 sound into 7.1 channels. my question is in regards to whether or not this setting will split HD-MA 5.1 into seven channels, or if the receiver will just read the standard dts feed from the ps3 and split it into 7.1. any thoughts?

my understanding if i remember, thx neural is for 2 channel matrixed into 7.1. since you have the 805, i would suggest using the thx ultra 2. on mine, i dont use neural for anything. i sometimes use thx select 2 to matrix 5.1 to 7.1.

the ps3 is sending pcm signals so the onk will not know the diff between true hd, dts ma or pcm. i can use select 2 to matrix 5.1 to 7.1

i still would use the ultra 2 that the 805 has though
