The Simpsons for little kids? I don't think so. Within the first 5 minutes of the film it shows male genitalia.

Yeah, I enjoyed Meet the Robinsons. Also The Water Horse is pretty good too.

I agree with a lot of the recommendations so far.

The Water Horse is great! There are a couple of scenes that could be a little frightening to younger children but overall, it's funny, cute at times, and exciting. A pretty good mix and might work well, if you don't lose their attention in the first few minutes (i.e. before The Water Horse is born).

Bridge to Terabithia is a great family film but I don't think it would be all that interesting to a 5 year old.

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium is good and has lots of toys, bright colors through a lot of it, etc. so should do a pretty good job of keeping their attention.

Not totally sure this one is appropriate for a 5 year old but Sky High is pretty good and might keep their attention.

Maybe TMNT?

As already mentioned, a lot of the animated movies are good. I'd recommend the following.

Meet the Robinisons
Happy Feet
Surf's Up

OP, all the movies you mentioned I own. They have great PQ and they're all really fun to boot. My daughter turns 4 in a few months. My wife's favorite is easily Meet the Robinsons- it genuinely has some really funny moments in it, and the PQ on the T-Rex scene is out of this world. Same can be said for Chicken Little- awesome PQ and a genuinely amusing take on an old classic story.

You can't go wrong with any of those choices.

Beowulf?!? Dude, you're not allowed to offer suggestions for kids' movies any more.

My 3 year old girl loves Water Horse...Simpsons is not a good choice for kids.

My problem is that I can't get most kids titles on Blu-Ray because my daughter likes having her own DVD player at times (which keeps HDTV open for me). I've only bought Ice Age I & II so far...

Would he like 300?

It was pretty kid-friendly. Its like rupenzel and cinderella mixed! You should buy it... immediately.

A bit grainy, but your kid wont mind that...

Im just being an idiot.... and at the same time, ranting about how awkward it is that people (incredipinoy) has named some pretty good kids movies. Whats wrong with Daddy day camp and Are We There Yet? Obviously Beowulf was a bit retarded. . But still...

I dont know... The kid is 5. Not 2...

Disney's Dinosaur, one of the best PQ for CG movies, and a story both children and parents can relate to (some adult themes like respect for the elders, starting anew, survival of the fittest)

ratatouille---watches this sometimes.

& we just purchased alvin & the chipmunks---he loves this one watches it alot.

Im looking at either meet the robinsons//chicken little///open season//i was thinking also about the simpsons movie but didnt know if that was in his age range.

A question that also came to my mind. We rented bee movie last weekend.
We liked that 1....I was thinking about getting it on dvd because he wanted it. Any news if it could be coming to blu-ray anytime this year?

And any news on new cartoon titles on blu-ray?

Thanks i appreciate it.
I have both Chicken Little and Meet The Robinsons as well as Monster House, all of which I enjoyed watching. Yes they are for me, I watch animated films too. I'm like a big kid in that regard. Monster House may be a little too intense since your son is 5. The Wild is another good movie, and there is also The Polar Express. Not sure about any more animated films or children's films on Blu Ray. You may want to check the movie section on the site, and look at studio's releases.
