I was checking out my local futureshop store last night and noticed that
they sell Martin Logan now... I was kinda surprised. Tried testing the 12"
out but the damn place was packed so I left. Might check it out this week-end.

Why, oh why, did nobody tell me Martin Logan had new lines of new little subs?

The DYN500, DYN700, and DYN1000; all based off the small frame of the Dynamo?! Gorramit, guys. Gotta tell me these things.

New Dynamo owner here. What an amazing little black box! I usually smile when someone says "night and day difference", but in this case, when comparing to Polk PSW110, it truly is. Especially with music.

Dynamo still can be a little boomy sometimes, but i guess it's just a matter of finding perfect spot in the room and adjusting the settings accordingly.

Best HT purchase in a long time.

Default Any "Descent i" or "Depth i" sub owners here??

Im looking to up my subwoofer performance and have been leaning towards the Depth i model. Its definitely a awesome looking sub and I wanted to get some feed back on overall sound-performance on this model (is it ideal for both music and movies?). I know the Descent i is a monster of a sub and may pack much more punch than I need but any info on any of these models would be greatly appreciated

I came in here to ask for some opinions on the Descent i, it appears info is somewhat lacking though. Anyone have any experience with the Descent i?

I have the DYNAMO (original 10" one) and I love it, the only downside to it is when it's in front firing mode the power cable tends to fall out the bottom somewhat often.

Well my sub died like 3 months ago and ML has been giving me the run around about sending out the new power supply so I can repair it, I probably won't buy any more of their products after this.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slaughter, my original 10" Dynamo died 2 months ago, and Dana over at ML has been telling me their suppliers haven't given them power boards yet. I keep getting dates pushed back and back.

My Dynamo died in moving somehow, but it's an identical issue. I loved the sub, used it in downfiring mode and it was a beast - but I have a nice black box now that I can do nothing with.

I can't fault them for issues their suppliers are having, though.

Turning down ML over this issue is a mistake if you plan on buying their electrostats one day, I will say. But I surely won't get another sub!

I just expected them to handle the whole situation a lot better, waiting over 3 months for a warranty replacement is unacceptable. I spent a lot of money on this thing and I didn't do anything to break it... it just stopped working one day out of the blue, I noticed I wasn't getting much LFE and that the light on the sub wasn't on. If most manufactures can't repair or replace their products in a timely manner in situations like this then they usually replace it with a like model (though I do not want a DYNAMO 500, heard bad things about them).

I would love to have some Electrostats, but I am weary on buying them now because I have seen how ML handles stuff like this and I would be even more pissed this were the same situation with a pair of speakers that cost even more. It makes me mad that I recommended my friend to a pair of the Motion 12s right before this happened.

Have you tried getting a replacement? I'd get one, then sell it.

I'm already getting a new sub - I was planning on keeping the Dynamo if they ever fixed it for the bedroom.

What have you tried, what have you been telling them? I haven't e-mailed Dana since he told me "Nov 1" and now it's Nov 17.

I wouldn't even mind a DYN300.

I already replaced it, but that's beside the point. Anyway yesterday I got an e-mail saying that they are about to ship the part out, so hopefully I will have it fixed soon, plan on moving it to my bedroom or letting my friend borrow it until he gets a nice sub.

Got the part in the mail a couple of days ago, couldn't fix it until last night because I needed to buy a set of metric allen wrenches, but now it's working fine!

Martin Logan Dynamo 700 or the Dynamo 500?

I will be using this in a open floor layout (small Living room is attached to the Kitchen and a small Dining room) - high ceilings - hard laminate floors - mostly Movies / Home Theater use.

I bought the 500 last night but I am having second thoughts and am thinking about the 700

I really like the versatility of the 700 in the fact that....
1. downward / front firing
2. Wired or wireless

A big concern I have about the 700 is on a Best Buy review of the 700 the reviewer talked about the 700 moving around on the floor since it was not ported.

Here is the actual review...

"I just got this Dynamo 700, a few days ago after I got the Dynamo 500. I put one in living room set and the other in basement set. The bass is stronger than the 500, but the 500 has deeper and smoother bass. Either way, I like both of them. The 500 is ideal for listening and the 700 is good for party and dancing because it produces a strong and powerful bass for rocking. The 700 even handle better than the B&W 500W but the Dynamo 700 costs $800 less than the B&W 500W. What I don't like the 700 is it designed without air flow not like the 500. When I turn it louder, the body shaken and moved on the wood floor. The 500 is well balanced no shaking or moving even I turn it louder because it has two holes for good air flow on the back."

Should this be a concern?

I have the Dynamo 700 set as downfiring and it does indeed "dance" around the floor when there's deep bass. Haven't tried setting it frontfiring, so maybe that will solve the problem.
Performance wise, the sub is great for both movies and music. It hits low enough and fairly loud (in a 16x20ft room) and mates very well with my monitors for stereo music. Never tried the 500 but I'm thinking for music, the sealed 700 is the better performer. Also, the 700 is tiny and easy to place with the optional wireless kit.

Default Dynamo 1000 or Grotto I to support Motion 15s

I see amazon is offering the Grotto I for $995 ... I'll be upgrading my son's 2.1 system's sub soon.

He has a pair of Motion 15s ... Anyone care to weigh in on which ML sub (Dynamo 1000 or Grotto i) would blend in best with his Motion 15s?

Is size a concern? I had the 700. I sold it. Honestly,an SVS,Power sound ect will trump the ML sub all day long, while being cheaper also. My Power Sound XS30 just destroys the ML 700 and I'm sure the Grotto also. But they are big subs,if you want small,ML will be ok.

To TomC1315...........

I would go further and ask you, what are your bass needs. Are you a bass head?
Do you want fast, clean, tight bass.

I auditioned both subs you are talking about. The Grotto is nice, sounds pretty good.

If you want some high output, i agree with Goat1.

With the money you are spending, it may be a good idea to look at companies that make their living only building subs.

Until recently that is what SVS did. Now they have a line of award winning speakers, but their gravy is still subs.

I recently purchased the Power Sound Audio XS 30 and it is simply amazing. It is all the sub i should ever need. "should"
