USA Amazon 3D: In The Heart Of Wild Nature (2013) Blu-ray 3D [Region A Locked TBC]

Amazon 3D: In the Heart of Wild Nature Blu-ray

I've had this pre-ordered from Amazon for a few months and now it has shipped and is scheduled to be delivered on Saturday. Being a nature documentary lover and especially if the topic is a jungle I look forward to getting this and will post my user review asap. Did anyone else order Amazon 3D?

It was shot in Real 3D and here is a link to other 3D Media International 3D Documentaries.

It says on Amazon that the run time is 50 minutes but on the website of the folks who did the movie, it say 60 minutes. I hope the 1 hour time is correct. Here is a link to their mastered in 4k films: http://4k-ultra-hd-movies.com/

That looks like a really good title. I have Born To Be Wild 3D and a few Ocean documentaries. I would really like to get this one.

Let me know how the 3D is, will you?? You can PM me if you want.

Thumbs up

Yeah, Born to Be Wild Imax 3D has strong 3D and glad to hear this was also filmed in 3D. Let us know JBug what you think of the 3D; weak, medium or hopefully strong 3D in most scenes.

Amazon 3D is a great concept to film in 3D because like in Avatar, there is so much going on in the foreground, mid and background with the trees, leaves, vines, plants, animals, bugs, etc.

Yep, the Amazon is a good place to set up for 3D documentary. I hope a couple from church will be able to make it this Saturday. The wife doesn't like horror or gore and the husband hardly likes any Hollywood movie but they did decide that Jurassic Park would be ok. I would show them Amazon and then JP.

I'm waiting to hear from Sony on my 4k TV. I've had three different sets in and out. All had screen uniformity issue that were intolerable. I'm at the point where I would just like my money back and move on to something else. It's been two days since I told them that the TV #3 has the same problem as the last one. The same two guys delivered the last two sets and they said that they have to pick up more Sony sets and Panasonic and Samsung. One said as they were leaving "see you soon."

4K 3D, cool. Looking forward to your response on it when the time arrives and for Amazon 3D. Thanks JBug.

Watched this last night and was sorely disappointed. Here's why. First they used a musical soundtrack throughout the movie. The music wasn't bad but the choice of music over the atmospheric background sounds of the rain forest would to me have been much better. Except for a shot of a guy playing with a dolphin it's wall to wall music. Then a very high percentage of the shots in the film were of trees, plants, and water. I kept thinking, they sure are wasting a lot of run time just showing that stuff.

If you read the description of the disc content on the back of the disc case, it mentions the many varieties of species of insects and animals in the rain forest. You would be led to think you were going to see a lot of them but again it's all trees, plants and water. An odd thing about this film is how they would be talking about something before it was even on screen. If you get a chance to watch this movie you will see what I mean by odd. For example they were talking about and showing a grasshopper then the narrator changed subjects but the shot of the grasshopper would still be running. That happened multiple times during the film so I also question the editing decision unless they for some reason meant to do it that way. Even so, it was a odd and something I've never seen in other documentaries.

Forget the jaguar or whatever that big cat is on the cover. They show him/her for about a minute total and offer no useful information on it at all. As for the 3D, there are a lot of nice shots with depth but all those wasted shots looking down the river were flat. There are pop-outs, the best one being when it is raining as the rain extends out of the screen by a nice margin and looks very cool. That is the best 3D shot in the film and the best I've seen for rain in any 3D movie For those who like pop-outs which I do it's a keeper.

For me, it's too bad they decided not to show more animals and insects. That is what I wanted to see, instead they spent too much of the films run time lingering (and I do mean lingering) on shots of tree, plants and water and most of those shots had no narration at all. I've you get to a chance to see this please post your thoughts as well.

The forest sounds good, but as you said, disappointing about the lack of life found. I know it could take years of original footage to find a good number of animals to film, all the while getting bitten alive by lots of bugs in there and the danger of the animals, but too bad they didn't capture more on film as Nature and National Geographic does with their entries. Thanks for the info on the 3D JBug. Sounds good in that regard.

Is the 3D as strong as the jungles of Avatar 3D?

I've not seen the 3D blu ray version yet but The Amazon film has the pop outs and some good depth where Avatar went for the depth. I saw Avatar in theaters but need to see the blu ray for a refresher. The reviews of Amazon on Amazon.com say the same thing about the shots of trees, plants and water and the narrator and shot not matching up like you would expect.

Sounds like you have either unrealistic expectations of edge lit LED technology if you are in the exchange merry go round for either flashlighting, edge bleed and/or clouding.... Or unrealistic expectations of LED technology in sets 65+ inches if you are exchanging due to vertical banding.

Both issues can vary from set to set, but if you have already been through three sets, a 4th is not going to improve anything drastically.

Samsung LEDs are plagued with the same issues with a high dead pixel rate to boot. Panny plasmas have their own sets of drawbacks namely buzzing and overheating.

Save yourself the aggravation and enjoy your 4K TV. Playing the "panel lottery" is never fun, but if you are exchanging over screen uniformity that many times, then Edge lit LED technology is probably not right for you.

Thanks. Yeah, Avatar 3D is still one of the best 3D movies out there.

No thanks, Sony is picking up my set and refunding my money. I don't have any lofty expectations at all. Sony also said no further swaps will cure the problem. The sets that I've complained about had screen uniformity problems that were not normal even for the technology. I could see it if I had seating outside the screen area but the washed out left and right side problem occurred while sitting within the screen boundaries and for the money I spent it was not acceptable. I'll explore other options and even wait till CES 2014 if necessary. Would you enjoy a TV that demanded you sit dead center to enjoy? Not me.

There in lies your problem. You obviously didn't do your research prior to buying an edge lit LED tv. NO BRAND of LED tv from any manufacturer is going to have great off angle viewing. This has nothing to do with cost of a set rather it is a limitation of the technology.... And yes, you pretty much have to sit dead on with any LED set for the best possible image.

FYI.... If you need a set with better off angle viewing, plasma is a better fit. But you won't want to wait since plasma will soon be out of production similar to full array local dimming LED. 65ZT60 is a good one to consider. Your only other options are projectors or waiting on OLED.

You talk like you know me or something. I don't need and didn't ask for any advise. I was simply stating my situation. I already know about plasma TVs. I've owned top of the line PDPs from Samsung and Panasonic. The last one was the 65VT50. The reason I sold it was because of the dim picture when viewing 3D. What made you assume that I don't have knowledge of TVs? For the record, I've been an AVS member since 2004 and have owned quite a few top TVs over the years. Why don't you go help an old lady across the street or clean out your garage.
To all the regular folks here, I'm sorry for being off topic and will post nothing further on this topic.

Well.... a good start would be your posts about exchanging LED set after set thinking the next one would solve your viewing angle issue which BTW is not a uniformity issue as you previously posted.

If you get that hostile over me posting that perhaps plasma or projection is a better fit to solve your viewing angle issue, then my apologizes for offending. If you don't want anyone commenting about your situation, then simply don't post about it. It's as simple as that.
