Default What were the sequels that confused you when you were a kid?

Sting II - I didnt understand why Redford, Newman, and Shaw were not in the film yet their characters were in it.

Jaws 2 - I didnt understand how there could be a sequel since the shark died in the first film.

Even though I was confused about it all, I still enjoyed them when they played on tv when I was a kid.

What were yours?

Any movie allegedly based on a true story, that resulted in numerous of fictitious sequels. When sequels are made from a true story it raises a question- was the original movie really a true story to begin with, or just a promotional tactic to falsely advertise the film?

I have to agree with the OP's choice of Jaws 2. Never understood how they could make a sequel with the same characters after the events of the first movie.

I would also like to add Speed 2: Cruise Control. I remember enjoying the first movie when I first saw it, but never understood the need for a sequel. Sure, Sandra Bullock came back, but got a new lead and it didn't make much sense.

I saw Futureworld without knowing it was a sequel to Westworld. I remember I was confused with scenes with the cowboy, and wondered what he had to do with the story.

I remember being confused by the title of The Lost World: Jurassic Park when I was a kid. I had to ask one of my brothers why there wasn't a Jurassic Park 2.

Sometimes They Come Back... Again

This was the first one I saw and I've never seen the original before. So I always thought the original would be about what the flachbacks in part 2 implied. But it wasn't like that at all. Confused the hell out of me as a kid lol.

The Friday the 13th movies always bugged me as a kid, because I thought Jason died at the end of them, so how could he come back in the next one? I thought it was a new camper taking up the Jason mask in each of the sequels, lol.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park. "Where is Sam Neill, and who the hell asked Vince Vaughn to be a part of this movie?"

Batman & Robin. "Why is....? Why did....? What were they thinking when....? Ah, forget it."

Exorcist II... just what the hell is going on?! Someone combined The Exorcist with Pink Floyd: The Wall.

I used to think Star Wars and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope were totally separate movies.

I would also like to add that I got fooled by movie sequel posters too - I think I was either slightly disappointed or confused that there was no exact scene in European Vacation that matched the poster of European Vacation. I think there were many posters like this - as creative and imaginative as I was as a child, I dont know why I got tricked by those awesome old-school, epic movie posters.

Empire Strikes Back. I thought Luke Skywalker was being played by another actor at first.

G.I. Joe Retaliation. The movie got pushed back almost a year so they could still barely show Channing Tatum, and the movie feels more like a reboot but shoehorned as a sequel.

This isn't really anything to do with a sequel but more to do with the non-existence of a sequel. I remember how pumped I use to get with the post credit scene at the end of Masters of the Universe
[Show spoiler](when Skeletor pops his head up and says "I will be back!")
. Then asking my Gran why we couldn't rent the sequel? Biggest anti-climax ever.
