Default IMAX Roving Mars Blu-ray on July 31

The Blu-ray version's content of 'Roving Mars' will be identical to the DVD version, only with high definition audio (unspecified thus far) and 1080p video. Viewers will be able to select from either a 1.78:1 widescreen or 1.33:1 full screen presentation of the film. Extra features include Disney's 50-minute 1957 film 'Mars and Beyond, and a 'Mars: Past, Present and Future' featurette.

Default Looks like another 5-star presentation from Disney.

Just watched the Apple trailer. This is one that I'll be getting for sure. RM plus 300. I can't wait for July 31st!

I'll pick this one up for sure. My favorite documentaries on The History Channel are all about space, the planets, etc. And Mars has always been my favorite.

I never checked out PE because I am so much more fascinated about what happens in outer space. So this is great. Can't wait till release date.

Keep in mind the OAR is 1:43:1

They should have just included the OAR version and a 3-D version for when those glasses come out (IMAX 3D theatrically)

Also coming out the same day is the IMAX film Blue Planet. Originally it was supposed to have both OAR and widescreen versions, now I'm uncertain.

Either way I'll be buying both.

Original Aspect Ratio.

It means there was no stretching or cropping applied to the picture.

The Blue Planet comes with The Dream Is Alive. A 2-for-1 Imax disc.

The Dream Alive is a great documentary. Still one of the best IMAX documentaries out there.

Default Roving Mars

Does anyone here have the BD "Roving Mars". I just got it in the mail and although the picture quality is stunning (very crisp and clear) ... it seems to be very jumpy. You can especially tell when they have text on the screen.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Or is it my set?

I have it and I've watched it already. I don't recall it being jumpy but I'll watch it again to make sure.

Interesting. I have a 1080i setup (not 1080p unfortunately) .... I wonder if 1080i is just very noticable on this picture.

Is the included Disney 1957 Man-In-Space feature "Mars and Beyond" in HiDef or standard?

Total crap! I knew already that it was only 40 minutes (38 minutes actually), but more than half of the show was not 1080p, but rather closer to 720p as was seen in the PBS broadcast! I've already seen many shows on PBS better than this. I want my money back!

Uhhh... call me dumb but... aren't these images beemed back from space from something like 143 million miles away thru various RF frequenices and gamma rays using an itty-bitty camera covered with red dust??

I would expect somthing like 640 X 480 at best. You got 720p the minimum HiDef standard!!

Honestly, for something like this I'd rather have the raw video feed without any editing. Put any sort of terrestrial video in 1080p and leave the images from mars in as virgin a state as possible.

I got my copy from Amazon yesterday, but haven't gotten a chance to open it, perhaps I will tonight to see what it's like.

Hmm, I liked it and thought it looked good. Some of the images of the rovar were stunning. I actually thought it looked better than a higher rated "Blue Planet" (from another site). I guess it's just me though...

Most of the show features talking faces and construction work back at NASA, and those footages (many shrunk to 4:3) were PBS-like to the max.
