I know some didn't care for the book but I loved it... though not picturing Jackson ( I was thinking Paul Giamatti) as Tom McCourt but did enjoy 1408 so will give this a shot. The Raggedy Man part is a key selection even though he doesn't say anything.

really hope they change the last 1/3 of the book or so cause like a lot of kings endings it just gets pretty silly and cannot translate to film

I agree with you on this one...maybe not 1/3 but at least the ending. Now in the case of The Mist I prefered the book ending but thats rare for a King story...he's definitely not the master of how to end a story usually.

Apparently he wrote or co-wrote the screenplay for this so we will see if he wanted to make changes to the book.

The loooooooooong gestating theatrical adaptation of Stephen King's novel CELL is getting closer and closer to theaters. Today, Clarius Entertainment announced that they will be handling U.S. distribution for the film, and will be releasing it later this year.

When a powerful signal is broadcast across mobile networks worldwide, cell phone users’ minds are instantly and dangerously re-programmed. Heading north through New England in search of his wife and son, Clay Riddell (John Cusack) is joined by a group of survivors hoping to fend off the bloodthirsty and hyper-connected “phoners.”

The film adaptation has been in the works for years. At one point, Eli Roth was going to direct. At another point, they were talking about making it a TV series. The version that finally made it to production sees PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 director Tod "Kip" Williams behind the camera. Stephen King wrote the script, with some additions from Adam Alleca (LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake). The film co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Stacy Keach, and ORPHAN's Isabel Fuhrman.

Hasn't this one been in the pipeline for ages now? I heard about this years ago, but then it just died off. Also, what's happening with The Stand? And as far as my relationship with King goes, I tried to read through the Dark Tower series, but the fourth book just lost me. I enjoyed the first three and the characters and I think the concept could make for an amazing film, but I don't know if that will ever happen. The Gunslinger especially would make a great movie.

I think I made it through three DT books, i think it would make for an incredible film series, even more entertaining than the books because King goes on 30 page tangents sometimes leading to bloat (my reasoning for never finishing the series). When I heard Viggo was being considered for the gunslinger lead my interest was peaked.

Are they even still talking about it? I read through the first 3 as well. Really like The Gunslinger and Wastelands. The Drawing of the Three was good. The best part of that one was the relationship between Roland and Jake. And Jake going nuts was actually pretty darn funny when he kept writing that poem about Blaine the Pain. And speaking of Jake, they would have to cast an amazing young actor to play that part right.

I read Ron Howard was directing a mini series or something two years ago. This series would cost a ton of money and it has a niche fan base, but with the right marketing I think this thing could be a monster of a franchise. Aaron Paul for eddie, Naomie Harris for Susannah. Make it happen somebody.

Naomie Harris would make a great Susannah. Just as Viggo would make a great Roland.

Like I said, I heard about it a few years back with Cusack and all, but it died off. Now it's really coming out. What's been the holdup I wonder?

Financing, mostly. The Weinstein Company was going to make the film but they must have put it into turnaround (choosing to instead hedge bets on their adaptation of Horns, written by King's son).

I didn't even know this was coming to be fair. Looks like a SyFy original zombie film that somehow managed to get A List actors.
