Exclamation Results Of Fimware Update (your Reviews Plz)

I have just recently carried out a fimware upgrade to my pioneer LX70a bluray player this is the 1st time ive ever done 1 of these so wasnt sure what to expect from it? Now is it that ive suddenly just developed eyes like a hawk? As ive just done some demos with some bluray titles & im amazed at the difference in quality, the picture seems so much sharper, clearer & the colours also seem, well... more colourful!! Is this the result of the upgrade or is my brain convincing me that the picture is different?

Its quite rare that a FW update would actually improve picture quality (PQ). Most of the FW updates deal with disc playability (i.e. security issues with certain releases, etc.). A few deal with audio issues (e.g. enabling internal decoding of a Hi-rez format, correctling LFE issue, etc). So, I think it is mind over matter in your case.

That info is dead on ..... but
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I remember dropping almost $500.00 on new High end speaker cables "Back in the Day" and damn it my system sounded $500.oo better...... cleaner highs tighter bass mmmmmmmm

I now just run 14/4 in wall and make my own twisted pair cables
Live and learn

the case when a new technology such as BD is released to the consumers, there are always faults that require firmware updates, so I am 100% that with updates being provided whether its onyko or PS3 is definitely an improvement. Now i only own a PS3 and comparing where it stood and capability when it was released compared to today, there is definitely a significant difference to the better, someway/somehow. From the sound quality to even picture quality, so i am extremely happy with the results of the firmware updates.

All the firmware updates for the Sony BDP-S300 have pretty much been about Java Compatibiliy. I am now on my 3rd or 4th update since I bought my player in June of 2007 and she is FINALLY getting the hand of Java Blus.

I had posted a couple of times with complaints and warnings about this particular player and Coyote Ugly. Under Firmware version 3.70 the load times were up to around 20 minutes. (the Java menu would actually blink on and then refresh frame by frame until it was in place.)

I am happy to say that under update 3.80 the load time has been dramatically cut down to around 5 minutes. I'm not sure my player will ever be as smooth as my PS3, but I'm happier now.

Thank you firmware updates....thank you.
