I really enjoyed the movie and the 3D. I thought the 3D presentation was very well done and effective. I rewatched the first Thor after seeing this and still rate the 3D on that. The scene in the rain where Thor infiltrates the crater looks amazing in 3D. Anyway i digress, this was a quality movie and had good medium 3D.

Best 3D in the Marvel series so far, but still leagues below the best 3D I've seen.
In this thread; https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=184993 I gave it a 7/10 for 3D quality, which is well above the 1/10 I gave Thor. The movie is great, however. And I gave it an 8/10. Just lots and lots of fun! |

The movie looks cool thanks to the 2nd trailer which shows a lot more of the main villain, who pretty much spurs all of the conflict for the hero Thor. This opens this Friday in the US. Last edited by Zivouhr; 11-06-2013 at 03:27 AM. |

Saw this on the release night last night. Pretty interesting plot just like the first one though the acting is very mediocre. All the emotions are muted, which is not always a bad thing.
3D was not strong but consistent - not as good as the trailer in my opinion. Watched half the movie up close and was getting a ton of crosstalk. Moved 5-6 rows back and enjoyed it a lot more from that viewing distance. Nothing in this movie wowed me and I'm not that pumped about owning it or showing it to friends, kinda like Percy Jackson. I had the opposite feeling after watching Pacific Rim, Wolverine, RIPD, or WWZ. Trailers were really impressive! Need for Speed - medium to low 3D Hobbit pt2 - medium 3D (hoping for HFR again) Captain America - medium to low 3D 47 Ronnin sp - strong 3D |

Thanks also for the trailer info. A movie called Need for Speed 3D? Cool. NFS Rivals also this month for PS4. Yeah, Hobbit 2 and 47 Ronin look really nice in 3D, and can't wait to check out Captain America Winter Soldier in 3D at last. Now watching: THOR 3D. Mostly Medium 3D. Nice conversion. |

I wasn't impressed with the 3D in this and didn't think it added much to the movie. The movie itself was OK but it is the weakest of the recent Marvel releases. I must say I was a little disappointed in this.
Movie is pretty mediocre and the 3D is weak. |

For the 3D in Thor The Dark World, it actually surpassed that 3D trailer I saw a few times with mostly low medium to medium 3D and a few weak 3D shots, but never strong 3D as in parts of Iron Man 3, Avengers 3D for Marvel. I'll round it out to mostly medium 3D, pretty good and about on par with Thor 1 and Captain America's 3D. Captain America 2: Winter Soldier's 3D looks very nice. Medium 3D. They included a whole action scene in the preview, as GI Joe 2 did in their 4 minute preview back in February. Cap 2 3D is 4/4/14. Quote:

Previews in 3D: Hobbit 2: 3D looks great, upper medium, some strong filmed 3D. Captain America 2: Winter Soldier's 3D looks very nice. Medium 3D. X Men Days of Future Past 3D: Medium to strong filmed 3D. Great. I was hoping we'd see The Seventh Son 3D and I Frankenstein 3D trailers, but not yet. |

On retrospect I'm disappointed we didn't get those trailers ![]() The 3d trailer for Captain America kicked serious *** though!!! The depth looked great though some of the camera cuts were a little too quick. Looked amazing though! I also thought Thor: The Dark World was freaking awesome and had absolutely kick*** 3D! Saw it in Cinemark xD and I was very pleased and impressed. One of the best Marvel post conversions yet imo ![]() ![]() ![]() The only complaint I think I have is that, as awesome as the actor is and intimidating the character is, the villain Maliketh was a bit weak. Maybe I missed some stuff but his character didn't quite feel as explained and important as he should have been. I may have missed something though and those thoughts could change on second view though ![]() Overall a fantastic time at the movies and I cannot wait to get this on 3d bluray!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Cool. It was a fun movie, agreed. I loved the Star Wars Tie Fighter- like action scenes too. Never did I expect that in a Thor movie. The alien ships were like flying knives, cutting up everything in their path. The main Dark Elf villain's goal was to [Show spoiler] I liked his main cohort villain, who was nearly indestructible. Good stuff. And the look of his home world was cool also, with the green atmosphere. The 3D could have pushed it more like in Pacific RIm, but what is here is good, and better than I was expecting (expectations play a big role in perception), agreed. Yes, 47 Ronin's 3D was very nice, and I also noticed a couple weird 3D shots in the trailer which all boils down to the 3D editor, when they were playing around with the convergence controls. It changed the depth too quickly before the eyes could adjust, but in the final movie, oftentimes the movie builds up to those shots gradually, unlike in a quick cutting trailer, which also could have been converted separately. Thanks! ![]() |

Just finished the 3D BD of Thor 2. It's a competent enough conversion, but it's got little in the way of convincing depth or pop-outs, i.e. it's very safe and bland.
VERY dark image too, on the UK BD anyway, so while it's got deep 'letterbox blacks' it tends to flatten the depth. Contrast that to The Wolverine, also converted by Stereo D, which has blacks that are far too milky BUT the conversion is waaaaay better IMO, with some excellent depth. |
