I think some do, but you'll have to check the disc specs; a site like Highdefdigest.com is good for this purpose. Like regular DVDs, not all do, so you've got to check. For the most part, though, they should have some form of uncompressed audio (PCM, Dolby TrueHD, DTSHD-MA). If you can't accept uncompressed audio, your player should be able to extract the regular version in the case of the latter two (Dolby Digital, DTS). As for getting the 6.1 signal, it depends if the DTSHD-MA encode is in 6.1.

Most movies are not mixed in 6.1.
Like GasCat says, most have uncompressed 5.1. Those that don't have DTS HDMA, which is a lossless compressed version of the soundtrack. If the movie was mixed in 6.1, then the DTS core of DTS HDMA can deliver this using your existing equipment. fuad |
