It looks fun but the hype is insane. There's nothing really special beyond the classic gaming aspect and reliance on a stick controller.

I have never played it, and I probably never will, it looks fun for 9 year olds. I mean I would probably have loved it when I was that age, but come on it doesn't even have HD capability, I mean really what is the point, because eventually everyone will have HDTV's and then where will WII be? Upgrade the WII to HD, and I will probably pick one up.

I'm sure it's fun and all, but the type of games available for it are not my cup of tea and I'm thinking it would look pretty crappy on my 32" LCD HDTV.
And honestly? I just want to sit there and veg out when playing a game. I don't want to get a full body workout. ![]() |

I dont even own a Wii game for my Wii atm, I did have Zelda, Red Steel, and Trauma Center. Traded them in for Oblivion on my PS3 lol. It is fun to a point, I play all the older Nintendo games on it (Super Mario, Star Fox 64, TMNT, etc), but thats really about it for me... The remote is a great idea but its too glicky for me and my arm got really sore holding that remote up during Red Steel lol. I just called it good after 2 hrs of holding my arm straight out and trying to aim

And the new version is available for pre-order. Play Tiger Woods with the Wii, it's not perfect yet but it is a really cool way to play a golf game. Much more fun that moving your thumb back and forth.
The Wii looks fine on my TV with the component cables upgrade. The original was too pixelated to even talk about. The Wii is more fun to play in groups and it's also the game system I catch my wife playing. She's too intimidated by the PS3 but she loves the Wii. Bottom line, the Wii will have games that no other system can touch for interactivity. Buy a PS3 first, but get a Wii if/when you can afford it, I sincerely doubt you'll regret it. ![]() |

well, people keep saying how good it is i really can't see why?? The only reason it the virtual games. But other than that, it's a gamecube with an internet broser.
The 360 and ps3 is the next gen consoles. Not the wii!! |

I love videogames more than most people. I have every system with 350+ games, but I am not impressed with the wii. Mainly because of it's graphics. 480p??? Give me a break. That is so weak. It's not even HD. Even the original Xbox could render some games at 720p (Enter the Matrix...Tony Hawk) so why they couldn't at least make it outout at 720p is beyond me. Even on my Pioneer Elite, the wii looks crappy. And don't get me wrong, Zelda rocks, but I would much rather play the game using a regular controller than the nunchuck. I'll quote a game developer that said the wii is like two gamecubes duct taped together.

![]() It's literally an overclocked GameCube in terms of hardware. As a gamer, budgets permitting, it's the same thing it's been for a while: You buy a Nintendo system to play Nintendo games and you buy at least one other system to play "everything else." That's how I see it anyways. |

If they come out with a game I really REALLY want to play, I may get one someday. But I'm in no rush. I, like others, dont like that they sacrificed next gen graphics for this 'innovative' new control design.
my main problem with the motion controls is that it should be an option, or an extra (like the sixaxis). I think having a whole system built around this 'feature' is pretty absurd. |

I posted about the Wii on some other topic but here's my opinion of the Wii:
I havea PS3 and my roommate has a Wii and I definitely play the PS3 more. I've played a bunch of the Wii games and I have the same complaints for all of them except for Zelda: the graphics are awful (some of the games look like they could have been done on the 64), the controller although cool is very glitchy (I have yet to get through a round of Tiger Woods without the controller screwing up resulting in a duffed shot), and most of the games seem to be simply made to make use of the Wiimote with very little effort or time put into the graphics or story. Everyone is so hyped over the Wiimote but it definitely loses its appeal after a couple rounds of failed golf. In fact I haven't even played Tiger in about a month because the controller got too frustrating. People continue to bash the PS3 because of lack of games and uninnovative controller but they all fail to realize that the Wii games that are out all seem to be rushed to market just to be out (see complaints on games above). Secondly, no one seems to be talking about the motion sensing in the PS3 controllers. I honestly think that part of the hype surrounding the Wii, aside from the price point, is that Nintendo did such a good job advertising the controllers because there is very little else that the Wii has going for it. Even the backwards compatability with the Gamecube cames wasn't very well designed. Essentially, there is a Gamecube inside the Wii, meaning to play any Gamecube games you have to go buy Gamecube controllers. In short, the only time I ever play the Wii is to play Wii Sports when friends come over. Try playing a beer a frame in Wii Bowling, that'll put you on your face! |

Nintendo is most likely on the right track here...Maybe PS3 was too far ahead of the curve with having Blu-Ray (for the masses - not me, I love it!). With HDTV's being such a small part of the market right now, Nintendo gets back into the Video Game battle by selling millions more units than PS3 or XBOX 360. 3 years from now, they put out Wii 2 - HD w/ BluRay since it is the format winner and cheaper now. All those buyers who had old games will want to keep them and buy Nintendo's new system...much like PS1 to PS2 sales.
